Can you believe it’s been over 12 years since House ended?!
The Fox medical television show ended its run after eight seasons on the network, and after winning several awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards and three Creative Arts Emmys.
Starring Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps, Jesse Spencer, Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer Morrison, Peter Jacobson, Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Amber Tamblyn, Odette Annable and Charlyne Yi, the series focused on Dr. Gregory House (Laurie), who is devoid of anything resembling bedside manner and wouldn’t even talk to his patients if he could get away with it. Dealing with his own constant physical pain, he uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor.
While his behavior can border on antisocial, House is a brilliant diagnostician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts afford him widespread respect. An infectious disease specialist, House thrives on the challenge of...

Disappointing news for fans of Apple TV+'s small-screen take on Time Bandits here, as the streamer has decided not to move forward with a second season.
Deadline broke the news, which comes almost a month after the 10-episode first season of the family-friendly sci-fi comedy series ended its run.
Despite mostly positive reviews, (the series earned a pretty decent 78% on Rotten Tomatoes), Time Bandits did not attract enough viewers, and even though Apple TV+ does not share viewership data, the fact that the show was unable to crack Nielsen's Top 10 streaming rankings clearly factored into the streamer's decision not to renew it for a sophomore season.
We got word that Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi and frequent collaborator Jemaine Clement were in the process of developing a reimagining of Terry Gilliam's '80s sci-fi classic back in 2022, with Friends alum Lisa Kudrow set to star.

Apple TV+ won’t reset the clock on Time Bandits.
The tech giant’s streaming service has canceled the series, an adaptation of a 1981 feature film by Terry Gilliam, after a single season. The news comes less than four weeks after Time Bandits completed its 10-episode first season on Aug. 21.
As is the case with most streaming series, viewing figures for Time Bandits aren’t publicly available. The show didn’t break into Nielsen’s top 10 original streaming series in the first four weeks of its run (Apple TV+ released two episodes per week). Critics were largely positive on the show; The Hollywood Reporter’s Daniel Fienberg wrote that particularly in the second half of the season, Time Bandits is “actively funny and clever and just a little bit emotional.”
Like the film, the series follows a young history buff (Kal-El Tuck) who’s recruited to join a band of...

“Time Bandits” has been canceled by Apple TV+ after one season, Variety has confirmed.
The fantasy series, starring Lisa Kudrow, follows a group of thieves and their newest recruit — an 11-year-old boy named Kevin (Kal-El Tuck) — hopping across time and space to plunder riches. Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris and Taika Waititi created the series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1981 cult classic, with Clement and Morris serving as co-showrunners.
Along with Kudrow and Tuck, the cast includes Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Charlyne Yi, Rune Temte, Rachel House, Kiera Thompson, James Dryden, Felicity Ward, Francesca Mills and Imaan Hadchiti.
Clement, Morris and Waititi wrote and directed select episodes of “Time Bandits” Season 1; they also executive produced alongside Garrett Basch, Jane Stanton for Handmade Films and Tim Coddington. The now-defunct Paramount TV Studios produced with Anonymous Content’s AC Studios and MRC Television.
In July, Morris spoke to Variety about introducing “Time Bandits” to a new audience.

Time Bandits‘ latest adventure has come to an end. Apple TV+ has opted not to renew the series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s cult classic film for a second season. The news comes almost a month after the 10-episode first season of the fantasy series starring Lisa Kudrow ended its run, released in batches of two episodes weekly.
The development is not entirely surprising. Despite the nostalgia factor and mostly favorable reviews (78% on Rotten Tomatoes), Time Bandits, created by Jemaine Clement, Iain Morris and Taika Waititi, did not attract large enough audience and was not able to crack Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming rankings.

Time Bandits Season 1 Episodes 7 and 8 are gathering steam as we close in on the final episodes, despite Episode 7 being a largely throw-away 50 minutes of fluff.
As a comparison with the original, which is perhaps something I should cease and desist doing, Taika Waititi’s series is essentially a stand-alone.
Having only the loosest association with its namesake, it’s better to view Apple TV’s version on its own merits.
(Courtesy of Apple TV+)
Certain remakes and adaptations will always have this problem, which is why the originals are almost always regarded as the superior rendition.
It took a little while for Time Bandits to find a semi-sort-of pathway through time. Though it’s been a bumpy ride, there is some semblance of cohesion coming together here near the end.

Terry Gilliam’s “Time Bandits” is meeting a new generation this month, with a TV adaptation on Apple TV+. But there are some familiar elements to it.
The series follows of gang of bandits, traveling through time in an effort to steal as many important (and really just cool) artifacts as they can. But their means of traveling through time and space itself is stolen, meaning they’re also on the run from the Supreme Being.
Here’s everyone you need to know in the “Time Bandits” series.
Kevin Haddock (Kal-El Tuck) Apple TV+
Kevin is the young boy whose bedroom ends up being a bit of a temporal waystation, and who ends up being a hero in the story. He’s played by newcomer Kal-El Tuck, who previously starred in a pair of shorts and one episode of “Andy and the Band.”
Penelope (Lisa Kudrow) Apple TV+

A couple of years ago, Taika Waititi slid into Lisa Kudrow’s Instagram DMs with a once-in-a-lifetime proposition: How would she feel about visiting New Zealand for the first time and filming a fantasy show — a genre she had yet to explore — for six months?
It was an offer that Kudrow, who was born and raised in Los Angeles and doesn’t particularly love to travel for long stretches of time, couldn’t pass up. The show in question was Time Bandits — Waititi, Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris’ series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1981 fantasy classic. The original film starred Gilliam’s Monty Python co-stars John Cleese and Michael Palin, as well as Sean Connery, Shelley Duvall and Ian Holm.

The latest collaboration between Taika Waititi (Thor: Love and Thunder), Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows), and Iain Morris (The Inbetweeners) is Time Bandits — a new Apple TV+ show based on the 1981 film made by Monty Python’s Terry Gilliam. Considering the absurdist nature of Gilliam’s humor, Morris, Waititi, and Clement are a perfect fit to bring Time Bandits to a new generation.
We at FandomWire got the opportunity to speak with Time Bandits co-creator Morris about reimagining Terry Gillam’s cult classic family adventure, working with Waititi and Clement, and why fans and newcomers alike should be excited to see this new version of Time Bandits. To a generation of Brits, Iain Morris may forever be known as half of the duo that created “The Inbetweeners,” the wildly rude sitcom about a group of mostly unpopular teenage boys that ran from 2008-2010 and was followed by two hugely successful films.
But the multi-talented creative has been prolifically busy since then, reuniting some of the “The Inbetweeners” lead cast for BBC comedy series “White Gold,” creating another BBC comedy “First Team,” working on FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows,” helping write Taika Waititi’s soccer comedy “Next Goal Wins” and recently being tapped to direct Netflix rom-com feature “My Oxford Year.”
For the last few years, he’s also been hard at work on “Time Bandits,” Apple TV+’s small-screen reimagining of Terry Gilliam’s cult 1981 fantasy comedy about a young boy taken on an adventure through time with a band of thieves (mostly played...

When Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement team up, good things tend to happen. From “Flight of the Conchords” to “Wellington Paranormal,” and “What We Do in the Shadows” (the movie) to “What We Do in the Shadows” (the series), the two on- and off-camera talents have shown a knack for elevating mundane situations through fantastic creativity. “Conchords” heightens its band members’ everyday struggles for renown and romance with hysterical musical interludes. “Wellington” disrupts the humdrum duties of New Zealand cops by serving up cases with a supernatural twist. Stories in “Shadows” emerge from the perpetual boredom of vampire roommates who’ve grown tired of immortality’s tedium.
Much of the humor in their writing relies on characters reacting to extraordinary events with little more than a shrug, so adapting “Time Bandits” into a TV series seems like a good fit. Based “in part” on Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin’s 1981 film of the same name,...

On paper, it looks like the perfect comedy storm: a cult-classic post-Monty Python adventure from Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin, adapted and updated by the dudes behind What We Do In The Shadows and The Inbetweeners. But, for all its pedigree and Apple-funded VFX budget, this 21st-century Time Bandits doesn’t deliver the swag.
The main culprits are the titular gang. Portrayed in the original by dwarf performers including David Rappaport, Kenny Baker and Jack Purvis, the Bandits were an engagingly energetic crew, whose fractious antics powered much of the action-comedy (when the big-star cameos weren’t happening) — as loveable as they were amoral. Here, the noticeably ganglier likes of Lisa Kudrow, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva and Charlyne Yi fail to measure up.
The extended running time doesn’t do the concept any favours

If you were looking for a list of the most influential comedy filmmakers of all time, it would absolutely not be complete without Terry Gilliam. Although Gilliam’s best-known work is his tenure with Monty Python, his 1980s family adventure Time Bandits has grown quite a cult following.

If you had a superpower, what would it be? You could read people’s thoughts – but isn’t that a bit invasive? Teleportation would be nice — fly without the Tsa. And, for the really adventurous, there’s time travel. You could hang out with anyone from Vlad the Impaler to Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Of course, there’s the question that haunts the invisible man as well: Do your clothes travel with you?

Thanks to Steven Spielberg and his various acolytes, ’80s kids didn’t lack for entertainment made directly for us. But that doesn’t mean we weren’t periodically traumatized by a Gremlins or Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom or, in the case of my younger brother, The ‘Burbs.
Nobody, though, specialized in making movies that were ostensibly for kids but definitely weren’t for all kids like Terry Gilliam. One of my first moviegoing memories is abruptly leaving a revival screening of Jabberwocky because it wasn’t the movie my parents thought it was. Audiences experienced similar unease with The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and, before that, 1981’s Time Bandits, a frequently playful juvenile romp that’s also nonstop dark imagery and narrative jagged edges. The film replicates the chaotic weirdness of childhood dreams, but resists any of the pat moralizing that often anchors kid-friendly storytelling.

If you could travel through time, who would you want to meet? Pirates? Neanderthals? Pure Evil? Well, with “Time Bandits,” you’ll meet them all — and Jemaine Clement even plays the latter.
Based on the 1981 Terry Gilliam film of the same name, Apple TV+’s new series sends young Kevin (Kal-El Tuck) on an adventure through time when he discovers that his bedroom is actually a “time egress.” That means that Penelope (Lisa Kudrow) and her gang of bandits can use it as a bit of a waystation while traveling through time to steal major artifacts.
According to Penelope, “nothing is too big for us to steal” — except maybe the Trojan horse. Along with Kevin the Time Bandits work together to save his parents, all while stealing the best items they can get their hands on throughout history.

Lisa Kudrow plays the jolly leader of a merry band of thieves in the official trailer for Time Bandits, the Apple TV+ fantasy comedy that co-creator Taika Waititi adapted from the 1981 Terry Gilliam film of the same name.
“Nothing is too big for us to steal,” Kudrow’s character, Penelope, explains to the series’ hero, Kevin, an 11-year-old history buff and the central child star played by Brit actor Kal-El Tuck. “Ok, now that we’re close, maybe it is too big to steal,” a deadpan Kudrow says in an otherwise absurdly comedic scene in the trailer as Penelope, Kevin and her crack team of robbers come upon a giant Trojan horse about to enter medieval city gates.
Time Bandits has its characters traveling through time and space to meet adventure at every turn as they look to plunder treasure, whether when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, as Stonehenge was created or during the Harlem Renaissance.

Actor Charlyne Yi has detailed the experience of being physically assaulted by a scene partner on the set of the upcoming Apple TV+ adaptation of Time Bandits, which Yi says led to their coercion into quitting the production and subsequent denial of workers’ compensation for a back injury and post-traumatic stress.
Yi, a main cast member in the upcoming series from writer-producer-director Taika Waititi, wrote on Instagram on Wednesday that a male actor with whom they shared a scene repeatedly pressed his body against their back so hard that they had to “dig [their] feet into the ground to keep my stance during rehearsals and filming.” According to Yi, this physical abuse continued after they attempted to “shove him off” and repeated during their time on set, with the abuser deploying “covert” tactics to control his public image while their complaints of extreme back pain to colleagues, producers and Hr were met with gaslighting tactics.

Popular medical drama House has just been added to Hulu on Tuesday (November 7)!
The eight-season Fox series centered on Dr. Gregory House, who is devoid of anything resembling bedside manner and wouldn’t even talk to his patients if he could get away with it. Dealing with his own constant physical pain, he uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor.
While his behavior can border on antisocial, House is a brilliant diagnostician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts afford him widespread respect. An infectious disease specialist, House thrives on the challenge of solving medical puzzles in order to save lives.
The series featured quite the cast over the course of it’s run: Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps, Jesse Spencer, Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer Morrison, Peter Jacobson, Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Amber Tamblyn, Odette Annable and Charlyne Yi.
House has been nominated for many awards and has won several,...

After decades spent firmly in the zeitgeist, the pop cultural legacy of "Star Trek" shows up in some unexpected places -- like an episode of Guillermo del Toro's horror anthology directed by "Mandy" filmmaker Panos Cosmatos. In a recent interview with Variety, production designer Tamara Deverell described the process of building the set for "The Interview," an episode of "Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities" that takes place largely inside a hazy, orange, retro-futuristic room.
Fans of "Cabinet of Curiosities" will remember "The Interview" as perhaps the show's trippiest installment. The hour stars comedians Eric André, Steve Agee, and Charlyne Yi, plus actress (and future "Rebel Moon" star) Sofia Boutella, actor Michael Therriault, and screen legend Peter Weller. In what appears to be a curious slow-burn experiment, a group of disparate people -- including a psychic, novelist, record producer, and astrophysicist -- are gathered together in a drug-filled mansion...
