- Visual Effects
I've always been integrated about special effects after seeing Star Wars back in 1977, I was just 7years old, but oh boy it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Everything thing came to life before my eyes on the big screen. That memory stuck with me throughout my teens and I knew I had to somehow make that a career.
I was an average student with average grades but I had a very big imagination. All through high school I choose subjects that were related to the film industry, like drama and I joining the video club and volunteered at the local T.V station. Not really knowing where I would end up.
After high school I enrolled at Sheridan Collage for the Media Arts course. I figure learning about video and film would bring me closer to my dream of working in the special effects industry. After 3 years of collage I found myself working security at Humber Collage going no where.
I decided I would volunteer at effects studios in order t o gain experience and network to meet the right people to break into the industry. That ultimately lead me to taking an introduction to animation coarse at UFT, where I learned the latest and greatest software at the time that most studios used called Maya. Because I had already established a network of people in the industry I ended up landing my first job at the most popular VFX house in all of Toronto Toybox Inc. A private state of the art thriving VFX studio working on big block buster films like Panic Room, Fight Club, Under Cover Brother to name a few. My very first VFX film was Jason X also know as Friday the 13th part 10.
That was back in the year 2000 fast forward to now, 2024 its been an exciting 24 year career. My portfolio is up to 23 block buster films, my name has appeared in several film credits, I've also worked on several T.V series, Game of Thrones being one of them and I'm a mentor at Think Tank known for the incredible talent that comes out of there due to the mentorship. So its been an adventure that continues to sprout and I'm looking forward to what the future holds.
