I did wonder how well Good Omens would translate from book to screen. Well, it worked, and now we’re ready to see how it all comes to an end. Well, sort of. We’re not “ready” ready, but it does need an ending.
This is one of those series that can’t be duplicated. There isn’t anything else out there that matches the energy, but there are a fair few shows that come somewhat close. It all depends on the elements you want to gain from Good Omens in other works.
Here are six shows worth watching.

The "Twilight" Saga is one of those film franchises that is so ungodly profitable and popular in the zeitgeist that even people who have never seen a single clip beyond a gif of Edward Cullen sparkling in the sunlight and declaring "This is the skin of a killer, Bella" at least know the general story beats. It's a love triangle between the vampiric Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a werewolf named Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), and the most average girl in the world, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). The entire "Twilight" phenomenon was stupid lightning in a stupid bottle, and I doubt author Stephenie Meyer could have ever predicted her relatively chaste, monster-loving Mormon stories had the power to completely change the landscape of teen girl cinema forever.
But the "Twilight" movies have a lot more going on in them beyond the #TeamEdward #TeamJacob #TeamBellaGoesToCollegeAndDatesAroundABit wars. I asked some of the /Film staffers...

It's good news and bad news for fans of Good Omens as the show is coming back for season 3. Only it's a very shocking low episode count! Way less than you'd think. We've known for a while that the show was returning, but there have been little updates for months.
The third season hit a roadblock with the 2023 Hollywood strikes. And then, things got worse in the fall when accusations came out over Neil Gaiman, author of the novel the series is based on and writer on the show, being rough with women. While he has acknowledged being with those women, the author claims it was consensual. Gaiman offered to step away from the show in September of 2023.
Despite the delays and controversy surrounding Gaiman, Good Omens season 3 is happening, and production will begin next year. However, instead of a regular season to wrap up the story, it's going to only be one,...

Good Omens viewers will see more of the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, but considerably less than originally planned. Prime Video renewed the series for a third and final season in December 2023.
Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith, Niamh Walsh, Derek Jacobi, Maggie Service, Quelin Sepulveda, and Shelley Conn star in the Good Omens series inspired by the novel by Terry Pratchett. The story follows the adventures of fussy angel Aziraphale (Sheen) and fast-living demon Crowley (Tennant).

The s-xual assault allegations against Neil Gaiman have proven to be nothing but bad omens for his show. A few months ago, it was revealed that the creator of Good Omens was being accused by two women of s-xual assault against them. Just a month later, two more women accused the author of the same. All allegations have been denied by Neil Gaiman, up till now.

David Tennant and Michael Sheen will return for a final, feature length episode of Good Omens.
The television adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s fantasy series Good Omens has been hugely successful over the last few years, not least due to the chemistry and charisma of leading duo David Tennant and Michael Sheen. The second series, which debuted in August 2023, was reported to be the number one show on Amazon Prime worldwide, and the first season was hardly struggling for acclaim, either.
The show had been commissioned for a third series before serious abuse allegations about Neil Gaiman (who wrote the adaptation) were made public. Gaiman has strongly denied those allegations.
Production on several of Gaiman’s projects, including Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives, was halted, although it seems Netflix is still pressing ahead with the second series of The Sandman. You can read about the allegations here.

Neil Gaiman is (mostly) exiting “Good Omens” amid some bad press.
The series creator, showrunner, executive producer, and writer has stepped aside from the show’s third season, which paused its pre-production amid assault allegations against Gaiman, according to Deadline.
Prime Video today has announced that “Good Omens” will return for a feature-length series finale that will be produced without Gaiman’s involvement — though he did help write it.
“While Gaiman has contributed to the writing of the ‘Good Omens’ series finale, he will not be working on the production,” the official press statement reads.
“Good Omens” stars Michael Sheen as an angel and David Tennant as a demon Crowley. Frances McDormand, Jon Hamm, and Miranda Richardson co-star. If you're a fan of Prime Video's Good Omens and have been eagerly awaiting more odd-couple bickering between Michael Sheen's angel Aziraphale and David Tennant's demon Crowley, then we've got some good news, some bad news, and some ongoing troubling news for you. The good news is, per Deadline's reporting, a 90-minute follow-up to that emotional Season 2 finale is heading our way at long last, with shooting due to begin in Scotland early next year The bad news then is that said hour-and-a-half episode is coming instead of rather than in addition to the third and final season of the show that was announced last December.
The cause for the shake-up to Good Omens' divine plans isn't a reflection of the show's popularity or critical reception — by all means it continues to be one of the better reviewed and beloved adaptations of Terry Pratchett's fantasy work. Rather...

Good Omens will return for season 3, but it'll be quite a bit different than what was originally planned. TV Line reports that they've learned from inside sources that the third season of Prime Video's hit fantasy show is going through a bit of a restructure. Instead of being multiple episodes long like the previous two seasons, Good Omens' third and final outing will only consist of one 90-minute episode. In other words, the show is going out with a TV movie.
This almost certainly comes about as a result of the ongoing sexual assault allegations against author Neil Gaiman, who co-authored the original Good Omens novel with beloved Discworld creator Terry Pratchett and was set to serve as the sole showrunner for the television show's final season. Back in early September, Prime Video paused work on Good Omens season 3 over these allegations, with Gaiman offering to step away from the...

The Prime Video series Good Omens covered the events of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter (buy a copy Here) in the six episode first season – but last year, we got a second season that went beyond the events of the book, and then the show was renewed for a third and final season. Good Omens season 3 ran into trouble when sexual assault allegations were made against Gaiman. Pre-production was paused and we heard that Amazon was having discussions about possible production changes. Now, Deadline reports that they’ve reached a decision on what they’re going to do about Good Omens. The plan to make a full third season has been scrapped, and instead the show will get one 90-minute send-off episode.

Good Omens will get a proper ending, but it will be with a shorter final season than expected. The Prime Video series, which was originally going to be ending with a third and final season, will be wrapping up with one 90-minute episode. The third and final season of “Good Omens” is set to move forward at Prime Video after being paused following sexual assault allegations made against showrunner Neil Gaiman.
The final installment, which was previously announced back in December, will begin production in early 2025 and be reduced to one 90-minute episode starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant, who return as the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, respectively.
It will also bring a serendipitous conversation from almost 35 years ago to life between the late Sir Terry Pratchett and Gaiman, where they mapped out what happens next to the characters in the world of their internationally best-selling novel, according to the streamer.
The finale will be executive produced by Amazon MGM Studios, BBC Studios Productions’ head of comedy Josh Cole and Narrativia’s Rob Wilkins, who represents Pratchett’s estate. While Gaiman has contributed to the writing of the finale, he will not be working on the production.

Good Omens is getting a final send-off, albeit a truncated one.
The Amazon fantasy drama will end with one 90-minute episode in lieu of a full third season with creator Neil Gaiman exiting after allegations were made against him by a slew of women.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant, play the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, respectively, will return for the one-off television movie, which will begin shooting in early 2025 in Scotland, after pre-production was paused due to the allegations.
Gaiman contributed to the writing of the series finale but will not be working on the production and his production company the Blank Corporation is no longer involved. A new writer is expected to finish up the work, although insiders said that deal has not been closed.
This comes after Tortoise Media released a podcast that chronicled accounts of two women, with whom he was in consensual relationships, who accused him of sexual assault.

The third and final season of Good Omens at Prime Video will stretch — or maybe shrink — the definition of “season” in TV terms.
The Amazon-owned streamer announced Thursday that the series, which stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant and is based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s novel, will end with a single, feature-length episode. The 90-minute installment is set to begin production early next year in Scotland.
Prime Video also noted that Gaiman won’t be involved in production on the series ender (though he did contribute to its writing). Earlier this year, five women accused the author of sexual assault; their claims are detailed in a podcast titled Master: The Allegations Against Neil Gaiman. He has denied any wrongdoing but offered to step away from the final Good Omens to let the production go forward and conclude the story.

While many shows embrace the paperback melodrama, few can fully explore these themes while touching the larger discourse. Yet the 2020s have seen a spark in this subgenre, with The White Lotus and Succession successfully marrying drama, business, and sex to perfection. Rivals – a new British series based on the Jilly Cooper novel of the same name – tries to thread the needle. While stars David Tennant, Alex Hassell, and Aidan Turner all shine, the women often feel underserved. It’s a frustrating development, in part because the series makes a point to tell us how women are ignored and undermined outside their relationships with men.

Amazon Prime Video’s new series, A Very Royal Scandal, has Princess Beatrice steering clear of her father, Prince Andrew. The 36-year-old is reportedly “brokenhearted” over the show. It depicts the events leading up to the Duke of York’s infamous 2019 Newsnight interview. Now Beatrice is determined to stop being Andrew’s “peacemaker.”
Beatrice is ‘sick of being humiliated’ by Andrew
Being depicted in A Very Royal Scandal—similar to Netflix’s Scoop—has embarrassed Beatrice (via Ok! Magazine). The miniseries premiered on Sept. 19, 2024. Michael Sheen plays Andrew as he navigates allegations against him related to his Jeffrey Epstein association culminating in the interview.
Widely panned, the now-64-year-old royal found himself benched from official duties. Andrew also lost patronages and his Hrh (His Royal Highness) status.
A source described Beatrice as a “daddy’s girl” who is “sick of being humiliated.” The insider also claimed Andrew’s interview re-entering the news “devastated” her.

The return of The Diplomat is on the way. After the Netflix political thriller ended on a big cliffhanger in season 1, here’s a look at what questions remain ahead of The Diplomat Season 2. Plus, a few that have been answered by a teaser trailer.

New episodes of The Diplomat bring with them some new faces. Among the new additions to the cast is Oscar-winner Allison Janney. She plays Grace Penn, the U.S. vice president who Keri Russell’s U.S. ambassador Kate Wyler will replace, if all goes according to plan.
The question is, though, is Penn a friend or foe? The answer, as showrunner Debora Cahn told Entertainment Weekly, could surprise viewers.

Hot on the heels of an impressive showing at the Emmys, FX is hoping its newest anthology series, the uniquely American drama “American Sports Story,” will capture viewers’ attention in much the same way. The first installment is based on the podcast “Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.” from The Boston Globe’s award-winning Spotlight team and Wondery. It traces Hernandez’s (Josh Rivera) rise and fall, from his days as a high school standout in Bristol, Conn., to his death in prison in 2017, two years after being convicted of murder.
Across 10 riveting episodes — the first two of which are streaming on Hulu — the series explores Hernandez’s troubled life and career, and the issues that influenced and came to define it, including the commodification of brown and Black athletes and the reckless disregard for player safety. It’s an indictment of one of America’s biggest cultural institutions, and...

The 2019 royal interrogation of Prince Andrew has become one of the most talked-about interviews ever. The heated Newsnight interview saw BBC journalist Emily Maitlis question the Duke of York about his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his possible involvement in it. The exchange in Buckingham Palace was Andrew's chance to prove his innocence... and it backfired, enormously.
The interview, which the 3-episode miniseries chronicles, was chased down by Maitlis and willingly sought after by Prince Andrew to clear his name and public image. The 50-minute exchange famously backfired for Andrew, after some rather peculiar alibis, and questionable statements -- the fact that he doesn't sweat and that he could perfectly recall exactly what he was doing on one random day from decades ago.

Amazon enthusiastically announced the Sept. 19 release date for A Very Royal Scandal with the declaration, “The critically acclaimed A Very … Scandal anthology is back!”
My primary questions include: Was “Scandal” included so that nobody would think A Very Royal Scandal was, in some way, a part of a franchise that perhaps started with 1996’s A Very Brady Sequel? Does your average television viewer even accept the existence of the A Very Dot Dot Dot Scandal franchise? [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for A Very Royal Scandal.] Over three episodes, Prime Video, in A Very Royal Scandal, tells a dramatization of journalist Emily Maitlis’ (Ruth Wilson) 2019 interview with Prince Andrew (Michael Sheen) regarding his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and allegations of his own misconduct. We see 20 minutes of that hour-long conversation, with the rest of the series dedicated to what comes before and the fallout of it. As the series—which is now streaming—ends, Emily packs up her desk, having decided to leave the BBC, while Andrew is told he must live with the consequences of his actions. As the Queen’s Jubilee plays on the TV, both are at home, and then clips from the interview replay, with Emily asking for a message to Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual assault, and his non-response. The last shot is the photo of Virginia in the box of Emily...

When Prince Andrew invited BBC current affairs show “Newsnight” to interview him at Buckingham Palace in 2019, neither he – nor his interviewer Emily Maitlis – had any inkling that it would not only result in the British royal’s public disgrace, including being stripped of his titles and patronages, but would spawn two dramatizations within five years. (And it’s likely they won’t be the last).
The interview was, to put it plainly, seismic. Not just personally catastrophic for Andrew, who found himself effectively barred from public life after it aired, as well as paying out a multi-million-dollar settlement to his accuser Virginia Giuffre, but reverberated through the royal family all the way up to the monarch.

For decades, the British Royal Family managed to maintain a certain mystique and allure. Tabloid fodder and salacious stories leaked occasionally, but in the 1990s, the scandals surrounding Princess Diana and King Charles’ marriage almost caused the entire enterprise to collapse. However, the royals seemed to hit new heights in popularity in 2018 when Prince Harry married Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Yet, just a few short years later, it all crumbled. Queen Elizabeth II was ailing, Prince Harry and Meghan exited the royal family and Prince Andrew’s long relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced. Created by Jeremy Brock, Prime Video’s limited series “A Very Royal Scandal” is a frank and engaging examination of the shocking interview between Prince Andrew (Michael Sheen) and journalist Emily Maitlis (Ruth Wilson) that would lead to the Duke of York’s ousting from public life and define Maitlis’ career.

A Very Royal Scandal tells the story of one of the more headline-making royal interviews in recent memory. The limited series focuses on Prince Andrew’s disastrous 2019 chat with BBC journalist Emily Maitlis, where he addressed disturbing allegations around his relationship with notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Premiering on Prime Video just months after a similar Netflix film called Scoop, the show knew viewers would come expecting juicy dramatizations of that infamous pow-wow. But it aimed higher, using its three-hour runtime to offer deeper context on the key players and weigh bigger questions stirred up by this scandal.
The series covers all the intrigue leading up to that fateful Newsnight sit-down between Maitlis and Prince Andrew, from the prince dismissing warnings to avoid the interview to Maitlis’s determination to secure it.
It recreates tense moments from their conversation and depicts fallout as the prince’s world unravels while Maitlis faces celebrity’s consequences.

It could be said that A Very Royal Scandal was a documentation of whatever happened in 2019 with Prince Andrew and its aftermath. Almost all the characters shown in the series are inspired by real-life people, though it is possible that the director might have taken certain creative liberties in portraying them and dramatized the narrative just to increase the entertainment quotient. So, let’s get to know these characters a little more and find out what happened to them after the disastrous BBC interview that shook the entire nation.

I personally haven’t had the chance to watch Netflix’s Scoop, a film that came out around 6 months ago about the infamous interview of the Duke of York that essentially led to his dismissal from the royal family. But it is still shocking to me that, within those 6 months, we’ve got a 3-part series on Amazon Prime about the exact same moments that, I suppose, completely changed the public viewpoint on the Queen’s favorite son. Of course, you can imagine the show and film bear close resemblance in terms of characterization and plot itself, but why then should one watch A Very Royal Scandal? Well, firstly, it boasts of Emily Maitlis herself as an executive producer. For the uninitiated, A Very Royal Scandal explores Maitlis’ explosive interview with Prince Andrew about his friendship with the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (a little after his death in prison) and...

Prime Video’s three-episode series A Very Royal Scandal premieres Sept. 19. It arrives just months after Netflix’s Scoop, released in April 2024. But even though the two cover similar ground, the new drama offers a fresh interpretation of the one-on-one conversation that effectively ended the Duke of York’s royal career. November 16, 2019 marked a pivotal moment in the recent history of the British royal family. On that ill-fated day, the BBC’s flagship news program, Newsnight, aired an hour-long interview between journalist Emily Maitlis and Prince Andrew, the Duke of York. The interview, which swiftly turned the prince into a meme sensation for all the wrong reasons, ultimately led to his eventual removal from royal duties and ex-communication from public life.
Amazon’s three-part series A Very Royal Scandal, executive-produced by Maitlis and directed by Julian Jarrold, dramatizes the events leading up to, during, and following that interview. It focuses specifically on allegations that Andrew (Michael Sheen) engaged in sexual relations with a minor, who was trafficked by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (John Hopkins). Given how recent and well-documented these events are, one might wonder what a dramatization like this could add to the public record. Unfortunately, the answer is not very much.

Michael Sheen and Ruth Wilson star in a dramatisation of Emily Maitlis’ infamous interview with Prince Andrew. Here’s our A Very Royal Scandal review.
Prime Video’s A Very Royal Scandal is the second dramatisation of Emily Maitlis’ interview with Prince Andrew we’ve seen in a year. We found the previous one, Netflix’s Scoop, to be a little lacklustre, but thankfully, A Very Royal Scandal is a much more entertaining affair.
A Very Royal Scandal follows A Very English Scandal and A Very British Scandal – we’re sensing a pattern here – as a fictional look at events in British history. A Very Royal Scandal presents a much more modern case, one that most of us remember very well. That comes with its own difficulties, but for the most part, A Very Royal Scandal excels at what it sets out to do.
