Foo Fighters Cut Tour Opener Short Due To 'Dangerous Weather'

Foo Fighters kicked off their North American stadium tour on Wednesday night (July 17) at Citi Field in New York, but unfortunately the show was cut short due to "dangerous weather." Just over midway through their set, lightning started to flash in the sky and Dave Grohl addressed the crowd as the band began to play "Learn to Fly."

He explained that someone on the side of the stage informed him there was a storm coming in. “There’s some lightning and s**t like that,” he said. “We're gonna play as much as we can until someone says it’s not safe for you.” Unfortunately, that moment came much sooner than Grohl expected. After that song they jumped to "Everlong," which usually ends the set.

"We’re gonna do one more, we’re gonna wait this f***ng s**t out," Grohl said as the band played the intro. "If we can come back you f***ing know we will, right?” The intro was all fans got before The Foos were told they had to end the set. The band later shared a statement on social media, writing: "We are so disappointed that we were unable to play our full set for tonight’s fantastic crowd at Citi Field. But the safety of our fans, the crew and everyone working in the stadium comes first, so when it was determined that there was no safe way to continue the show in this dangerous weather, we had no choice but to call it a night. We're grateful for every second we were able to play for you and looking forward to seeing you again — maybe as soon as Friday!"
