Brazil’s Federal Network of Education
IFMG has a history of over 110 years as one of the 42 institutions comprising Brazil's Federal Network of Professional, Scientific, and Technological Education. Beginning in 1909 with just 19 schools for apprentices and artisans, the Federal Network experienced significant growth, expanding to over 660 units across the country. It includes 38 Federal Institutes of Education, Science, and Technology (the IFs); two Federal Centers for Technological Education (the CEFETs); and Colégio Pedro II in Rio de Janeiro.
Minas Gerais:
A large inland state located in southeastern Brazil. Its name, which means 'General Mines' in Portuguese, reflects its abundance of mineral resources. With a population second only to São Paulo, it is Brazil's fourth largest state.
Minas Gerais has a rich history and vibrant culture. It was a hub for gold and diamond mining in the 18th century and played a crucial role in the Brazilian independence movement. The region is known for its distinctive cuisine, music, and art, including traditional dishes like pão de queijo and feijão tropeiro, as well as notable landmarks like Ouro Preto and Tiradentes. Music is also an important part of the state's cultural identity, with both traditional and contemporary artists gaining international acclaim. Overall, Minas Gerais is a must-visit destination for those interested in exploring Brazil's cultural heritage.
