About us

Croatian Institute of Public Health (CIPH) is the central public health institution in the Republic of Croatia, dedicated to maintaining and advancing the health of all its citizens. Through combining scientific research, health policies and practical implementation, CIPH deals with disease prevention, health promotion, and controlling and combating communicable and non communicable diseases. In addition, CIPH actively monitors and examines the health impact of serial environmental factors and deals with the consequences of human interventions in the environment and the impact of environment and climate change on human health and biosafety. Our Organisation also develops strategies for resistance and response to crisis situations, including public health emergencies and natural disasters. Because of our role as the central point and source of health data, information and expert guidelines, we have become an indispensable partner in creation of public health policies and maintaining public health on national and international level. The Institute’s activities are structured around three focal points: predicting, understanding, and action. This entails data collection and analysis, with monitoring recent occurrences and trends in key determinants of the populations’ health, which enables creating policies that will contribute to advancing and maintaining the health of all citizens through One Health approach.

Mission

Mission of the Croatian Institute of Public Health is maintaining and improving health of the entire population and all citizens of Croatia. Under auspices of the Ministry of Health, Croatian Institute of Public Health manages the network of county institutes of public health, ensuring consistent and high quality public health care throughout the country. Our mission includes collection and analysis of health data, building platforms for creating public health policies, conducting epidemiological research, and issuing guidelines for disease prevention and control. For coordinated action at global level, CIPH actively cooperates with international organisations, including European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), World Health Organisation (WHO), and leading national institutes of public health in Europe and worldwide. Our work is focused on informing the public, creating educational and expert material, and supporting all health experts by sharing knowledge and the latest scientific findings.

Vision

Vision of Croatian Institute of Public Health is to become the leading centre of excellence in the field of public health, recognised for its expert and innovative role in maintaining and improving health.  We strive to be the initiator of positive changes in public health through promoting healthy lifestyle, advancing health literacy, and encouraging research initiatives. We want to ensure that all citizens have access to accurate and timely information and high quality public health services, which will contribute to building a healthier and more resistant society.
