We make beautifully designed new and replacement windows and doors for every home.
In the small Dutch Community of Pella, Iowa in 1925, Pete and Lucille Kuyper invested in a newfangled invention – a window screen that rolled up and down like a shade. The couple went on to found a company based on the principles of traditional American values, integrity and the desire to enrich the homes and lives of others.
Today, Pella Corporation is still owned by the Kuyper family, and continues to be a leader in technology and product innovation. In fact, we've been awarded more than 150 product and design patents. And the team at Pella is as committed as ever to continuing the company's proud heritage of building innovative windows and doors.

I purchase several Pella Impervia windows for my home. Once they were installed, I loved the look. A year later I noticed severe water marks to my interior window trim. I called the installer who informed Pella. After several months Pella sent out a technician. Their solution was to seal a part of the window. Not the caulking on the framing but, one of the actual window panels. That didn't work. More technicians came out. All the technicians agreed the problem was not due to install, but rather a fail in the window. Here I am, almost a YEAR later, and Pella continues to blame the installer and has done nothing but ignore my emails and phones calls. The window still leaks. And when I say "leaks"...every time it rains water comes in. The wood and trim casing is rotting and mould is beginning to form on the window sash! Pella is very good at laying blame and avoiding the real issue. I thought I was choosing Pella for their quality, integrity and a higher standard. Well, I was wrong! What is most frustrating about this ordeal is the lack of customer service.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. They botched the first two orders and had to order a third time. Almost everyone I talked to lied to me.you would think when you paid that much for windows you would be working with a competent and professional business. That is not the case.

We were really disappointed in our service from Pella. We opted for the brand because of its strong reputation, but we've been waiting for a slider door project to be completed for over six months. The initial contact with the salesperson was great - helpful and no problems there. After a three-month wait, the door was finally installed but it was damaged and installed very poorly and for $5,000 for a fairly basic door, it should have been a perfect fit with no damage. It took us several phone calls and visits from different departments at Pella for us to finally have the door serviced. We are still waiting now for a new time to be scheduled to replace part of the door. The lack of communication between departments has been painful and despite individuals being helpful in their own roles, the experience on our end has been bad enough to stop us from working with them again.

4-5 years ago, I spent nearly $100,000 to install all new Pella windows and doors in my house. Today, when it rains, all three of my Pella sliding glass doors leak. These leaks have caused significant damage to my home. A Pella service person recently came out to inspect the problem and determined the seal around the glass on the doors has failed. He said that 8 of the 12 glass panels (4 panels per door) in the doors need to be “reglazed”. That’s a 67% fail rate in a relatively short time. Pella just informed me I’ll need to pay $500 per glass panel to have them reglazed since they only carry a 2-year warranty for labor. The warranty to reglaze only carries a 1-year warranty. Based on my experience, I would steer away from Pella. In all the homes I’ve owned I’ve never had such a problem. Not even with old windows. But to have this kind of problem with a relatively new product, and then have to pay to fix the product, is downright unacceptable.

1 year and the job still isn't done!
Pella Windows and Doors may boast about the quality of their products and the expertise of their installers, but their project coordination and communication leave much to be desired. While their windows and doors may be top-notch, their ability to manage a project is anything but.
The project coordination was an absolute disaster. When problems arose during the installation, Pella's communication was utterly unhelpful. It was like pulling teeth to get a straight answer or any semblance of accountability.
The frustration reached its peak when we tried to reach out to their customer service department. Our complaints fell on deaf ears, and we were left feeling like nothing more than an inconvenience.
While their products may be of decent quality, Pella's inability to effectively manage a project and communicate with customers tarnishes any positive aspect of their company. Pella Windows and Doors have failed to live up to their promises, and we will never make the mistake of dealing with them again.

Our doors (we have 4) each one costing over $4,000. without install have the Auburn brown exterior with interior wood clad. Within just a year or so the outside (metal) Auburn brown started wiping off. If you took a wet paper towel and just lightly wiped down the exterior of the door you would see a reddish brown color on the paper towel. We had someone from Pella Albany NY come out and take a look, along with a few other issues. He left with lots of promises but in the end, It was never addressed. After getting the third door installed we had them look again at the first two exterior (now showing fade) Telling us it was unexplainable and someone would get in touch. Waited and waited and nothing. After purchasing the fourth door (at this point we have too because they need to match) We addressed the issue again, even the 3rd newer door the color wipes off but not nearly as noticeable as the first two. The new guys (2 this time) were or seemed shocked when we showed him how the color just rubs off even on a wet hand, told us the last guy who had never got back to us was fired and they were going to get it taken care of. Weeks passed and my husband once again called and the office said they had sent us an email (not true but did run through all our emails from the date they said and still nothing) that the limited lifetime warranty does not include the paint after 2 (two) years. WOW!! Just buyer beware I guess. You dont get what you pay for.

I paid $65k to Pella Windows for 39 windows for the rear and sides of my home. I was so excited about these windows because i had heard that Pella was an amazing company. I can't tell you how frustrated i am with the outcome. Not only did i have to initially hold back on the balance that was due at the time ($2k) due to an extremely sloppy and unprofessional installation job, now that it's 3 weeks later, I continue to see imperfections in the work that was done (bent frame, poor caulking job, windows that look old rather than brand new, etc.). I now have to hire someone to come in and re-caulk the windows because i'm worried that i will have water problems later. Every day, i see more and more flaws in the work. In addition, i still have 11 windows in the front that i need to replace, but I would never go back to Pella. Instead, I've called another company that makes custom windows. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and expensive. I live in North Carolina.. I sure hope that Pella does not do this poor, shoddy work for customers in other regions of the US.. The problem is that they subcontract the installation work to people who just don't care. Even after they came back to clean up the mess they made of this installation, I'm still finding things that were not done well... $65k...!!!!! I am going to tell all of my friends about my experience with Pella. If you want new windows, I'd suggest you search around and think long and hard before you hire Pella.. They are overpriced, they send unprofessional and poor quality contractors, who don't care and whose shoddy work could end up costing you thousands if you get water damage from poorly caulked and inadequately installed windows.... Shame on you, Pella.

Pella is the worst. We ordered them last June!!! The doors arrived at the warehouse in October. The half assed installation is a joke. Started the end of November. Continued in December. They then demanded full payment without completion. They promised to be here January 31. They still haven’t come. They aren’t wind or waterproof! So we have a brand new home being ruined by pella. Since posting my reviews online I have received canned responses with empty promises of contact and corrective action. All part of the pella lie.

Our company installed a very expensive Pella door for one of our clients. The door was damaged and the warranty department has been less than stellar. The local Denver warranty tech failed to show up for two appointments and then stopped returning calls or email. When the Pella customer service was informed of his lack of followthrough, they were unconcerned and no urgency has been placed on locating a new tech.
Reaching out to the local Pella Rep for Denver gave us no resolution as he was holding training and would not be returning calls or email for a week!
We are planing to do the warranty repairs ourselves and will be steering clients away from Pella in the future.

Beware - HORRIBLE customer service. 3 minutes in my home to look at older patio door (at suggestion of Sales just after we ordered six new windows) for only $195. Four months and 8 days later I am still struggling to get a quote just to be able to order replacement parts to fix the door. Window installers have to come back to finish the final two windows a month later because they didn’t have the right tools or personnel. Very disappointing experience. Not worth the premium.

I have had multiple prior replacements from Pella. This spring they installed a large replacement window that does not match the other windows in my home and claim “the product line has changed”. The support personnel said “paint it if you don’t like it”. I was a long time customer of Pella. No more. Beware.

BEWARE: SELLERS WILL SAY WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR IN ORDER TO COMPLETE A SALE
I was told at the time of signing my contract with my sales rep that the lead time for delivery was 12-16 weeks. I had asked for the delivery terms to be included in the contract and was told that wasn't possible. Looking back I wish now I had fought harder for this, since not even within a week of signing the contract I was reached out to by the regional Pella office to schedule delivery 16-20 weeks (different from the 12-16 weeks originally given). After 8 weeks in, I received another update that windows will be another 6 weeks delayed, we're now at a 24 week delivery...
The timeline that was given was used for renovation project planning. I now have no windows in my downstairs through the best months of the year due to project plans based on the original timeline provided.
Yes, global supply chains are stressed and raw materials are not meeting production needs, although a company should be willing to stand by what is sold. If a customer is given a timeline, a company stands by that and is willing to compensate when not meeting the terms of the sale. I'm not receiving what I paid for. I've since read countless similar stories of Pella customers, so clearly the company knows, they just refuse to admit the reality of the situation when an opportunity for a sale presents itself. It's a "sell at all cost" approach, with no consideration given to your consumers. Shame on you.

I currently have Pella windows and naturally wanted Pella for the home we are building. Ordered windows December 14th, 2021 for a delivery date of March 26th, 2022 and today we receive notice Pella is pushing our order to April 14th! We have already put our house build on a slow roll anticipating March 26th! Back to the drawing board trying to find windows and doors... I lost 4 valuable weeks since our order was placed but I am hoping I can find a company to still meet our end of March deadline.

I was very excited and proud to have Pella Windows installed in my new home. My GC preferred me to go with another window company but I wanted the style that Pella offered. Therefore my builder and I had contacted the Pella Charlotte base in May of 2019 with my blue prints. They gave me a quote for over 100 windows not including 7 external doors. Before the orders were made the salesman came out to look over the window openings and door openings to make sure they are correct to meet state, county, and city codes. January 2020 windows were installed into the new home and county inspection came out. Most of the windows failed inspection due to not being tempered windows. I reached back out to the sales person about the mistakes and was not able to reach anyone from Pella until April 2020 when their accountant called me for collection of the remaining balance. I told the accountant the situation and she fully understood. She went beyond her scope of work and was able to reach the sales person. In the meantime, Pella's installation team came to make some repairs on the windows and doors for the home and they also notice the issues with the windows. The installation manager immediately said the windows should have never been ordered wrong by the salesman. The salesman came out to confirm the windows with the blue prints and it is clearly Pellas fault. He gave me his name and number and he will get this straight for me however he was never able to do anything. Finally, 3 months passed and the salesman finally reached out and said that the order was not his fault and that we did not order tempered glass windows. He could not do anything about it and that we had to make full payment and have a new order put in. Pella called and wanted the full amount paid. According to Pellas agreement on their receipt contract, it states, " 1/2 payment before the installation and the remaining balance to paid after the final installation". I argued with Pella that the windows are not done and they made a mistake with my orders but the VP of Greensboro base told the accountant that if I don't pay they will take me to court. Pella can't do anything until full payment is made. I was at their mercy going 6 months with wrong windows now. Inspections are being paused due to the windows. I decided to make full payment so we can proceed with their mistake. The salesman corrected the windows with a new additional order and that we will have to pay the difference in price of the tempered windows. In July and August some of the new open casements came in and some are on hold due to manufacture. I called and emailed in September 2021 to follow up with updates on all windows for my final inspection. Salesman say's I only have 3 more windows to replace which in fact there were 6 more to replace. The salesman replied again that we did not order the windows and when in fact he ordered. Up to date, Pella has not done anything and apparently nobody from Charlotte base has called me.

Pella has a reputation for superior products and, one would assume, customer service commensurate with that type of quality. However, my husband and I would caution anyone considering a Pella installation in Colorado.
After about 4 ½ hours with the Pella Windows & Doors of Colorado salesman, Dave O’Berto, we placed an order for about $60,000 on February 10th this year. The job finally began on June 7th. (Pella offered to start the last week of May, but since they originally indicated an April installation, we already had plans to be out of town.) We understand the construction industry has been slammed due to high demand, but we received no communication from Pella about the progress (or lack thereof) of our order. My husband has had to initiate all communication.
We were so excited when the windows arrived. That excitement quickly faded. This has been such a disappointing experience. For example, Pella delivered and installed a broken window, as well as obscured glass to replace transparent glass in two bedrooms, and a window that was four inches too short.
Much of the frustration stems from the fact that Dave did not know how the sliding opening hardware works for two casement windows. Though we specified “no window opening control device; no limited opening hardware,” that is what they delivered. The slide-opening casement window requires you to remove the screen from the inside or to go outside to open the window more than ~6 inches. Pella believes we should accept an adaptation for the window which includes drilling holes in the frame to remove the unwanted hardware; we believe we paid for a new window that operates as described by our salesman.
The sales supervisor, Hunter Aldrich, came to our home last Friday and left agreeing to replace the windows with a prioritized manufacturing order. Today (Tuesday), however, Hunter called to renege on our oral agreement. He says that the contract allows them to repair before replacing a window. We contend that, since we received windows that we did not order in the first place, a repair is unacceptable. Does Pella care? Apparently not.
Then there’s the pricing issue. We have two sets of two windows that are identical in size. However, in one set, the price difference is $68.89. Add to that, we were charged $885 for stucco repairs when the Change Order states, “Customer will supply their own Stucco company to repair current damage to home and help seal windows.” Our own stucco costs are about $20,000. Are we being exploited or are these honest mistakes?
The entire process, including ordering, delivery, installation, and customer service, has been – to quote the Pella GM for retail sales – “. . . a dumpster fire.” We recommend you look elsewhere for your windows and doors.

I ordered French doors about 5 month ago. The installation date was pushed back and finally today the door was installed. Except they didn't install French doors that open on the right, like the work order stated. Instead they installed one door that opens on the left with a window attached to it on the right. While the installation was taking place the workers realized they had the incorrect door and were advised by Pella to leave the installation incomplete until the correct doors can be delivered in 3 or 4 months.
The kicker is Pella is not even installing Pella doors. They are installing Therma Tru doors.
They switched the entire brand on me without even discussing it with me. The sales agent that I'm dealing with told me it's in my contract that they can switch the brand. He wants me to wait another 3 to 4 months for new Therma Tru doors to come in so they can complete the installation. They won't let me out of my contract. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone right now. I could have went to Home Depot and ordered Therma Tru doors for half the price and had them installed months ago if I knew I was going to deal with this nightmare.

Where do I start...
I would put 0 stars but I actually like the product.
I contacted Pella back in June of this year (2019). They were super fast on giving a quote and came out right away June 5th. I spoke with the salesman Young Lee who seemed very knowledgeable and explained everything in excess, but that is where it ended. I decided to get a front picture window and patio door replaced and set it all up that day with Young. I told him I preferred a weekend for installation since I am single and don't have anyone around during the week while I am working. He laughed at me and said he would put that down but probably wouldn't feasible and to pick a weekday just in case I couldn't get Saturday, so of course I picked a Friday so I could leave work early or take a day off. Great I set up a Friday and Saturday the end of July when the product should have been in.
Fast Forward to July. No one ever told me whether they were coming Friday or Saturday so I took the Friday off anyway just to be safe. It is now the Wednesday before Friday (2 days) Pella called me and stated that my patio door wasn't completed yet and that they would have to cancel and reschedule my appointment for another day, but they would call me and talk about days when available with the door. I NOW WASTED A DAY OFF WORK WITH SUCH SHORT NOTICE!!
Fast forward once again to now August. It was the first week in August. I get a call from Pella who calls and without asking what day would work put me on a Wednesday at 0800 am. When I questioned it, I was told that this was the next available day possible and if I didn't take it, I would have to wait a long time. Fine, I will make it work since they must think no one has anything going on. I now am taking my second day off work. They day of the install is here!! Yay, finally!! The installers show up (which were the nicest two guys I have met). They install the window in record speed.... but wait!! There is a hole in my new screen. He stated they would have to get it replaced. Also, the contractor never told them what putty I would need for the window trim and they don't have the right stuff. They also don't have the quarter round for the trim of the patio door, and on top of everything it is raining out and they can't caulk my patio door in the rain. They stated they will let the office know and they will come back out a different day to finish everything. GREAAAAT!!
Fast forward yet again. The office calls me and needs to set up yet another installation day to finish everything the first crew couldn't. Fine, I choke down my anger (steam is rolling off of me at this point). I set up yet a third day. This time my sister is in the area and stated she would be willing to be at my house so I didn't have to take off yet another day. This time a different crew showed up. They must have not have known what was done and what wasn't. Attached are pictures after this second different crew. They missed a ton of caulk around the patio door. They didn't fill any of the nail holes in the front window trim. They brought me a new screen, which had a giant wrinkle in it and was inserted wrong (see picture). They also brought the wrong floor trim, knew it was wrong but installed it anyway (per what they told my sister) since they didn't know when anyone was going to be able to come back out. Let's just say when I got home from work that day I could have died.
Now we are here at today, four months later, the project still not complete and haven't heard from anyone. I have emailed and called the salesman, I have called Pella and got a hold of one person. She ordered me yet my third screen. I asked her to talk to a manager to which she replied they were all out on lunch. I gave her my phone number and asked to have one of them call me back with no success. I have called multiple times leaving messages with no return call. I am beyond frustrated and annoyed at this point. I have over $10,000 left in other windows that need to be replaced and surely will not be doing them through Pella. I will also be urging friends and family to reconsider this company by what I have gone through and by the other reviews I have seen on this page.
I WANT MY PROJECT COMPLETED!! They would have to bend over backwards to ever think I would use them on the rest of my house or any future house.
Sincerely,
a 30-something homeowner who is looking into buying more properties and not using Pella for future remodels!

I contacted pella about my windows and they put me in touch with a company in Bedford hts. Oh. I spoke with Lyle there and told him about my problem with two windows. He set an appointment for repairs. George came out and only brought enough equipment to fix one window. Lyle did not listen to what I said. Luckily George had some in his truck to fix my other window. He also told me the reason why the windows needed fixed is because they were installed improperly! Not great! I thought paella had great windows but my experience has not been great!

We had 6 doors installed by Pella in our new home. All 6 have had issues. The repair guy said 4 of the 6 were not installed properly and the other 2 were defective. We now have to pay to have them repaired, even though they were installed by Pella incorrectly and defective. When I reported the issues, they said they would give us a discount on the cost of repair, but then when it came time to do the work they didn't give us a discount.

My husband built our house in 2001 and when it came time to put the Windows in he did a lot of research on different brands, thickness, and styles. And he was really impressed with Pella so he purchased 12 Windows and a slider door. Needless to say 17 years later they are all bad. Water (condensation) sits all around the window and slider and has turned them all black mold. He is very disappointed in this. We already replaced 2 of the windows this past summer because they were rotting out so bad.Now we have to replace 10 more and also the slider. We are hoping u will help us figure out what to do about this.Could there have been a recall on these from back then? We Would be happy to put this to a 5 star if u can help us resolve this issue. please

We spent $22,000 on their windows 12 years ago. We have repeatedly had black mold GROWING on the wood windows since 1 year into them. A full on blowing wind comes through most of them and massive condensation causing puddles on my wood floors! I am disgusted at the garbage they call windows. They are covered under warranty. Guy came out and said too bad not his problem they are moldy! This company is awful and I will tell everyone not to buy their garbage. If you need more pictures I can send them to you. This was 2 windows. My daughters room is has the windy ones. Mu hubby thought she didnt have the locks engaged?

I will never use Pella again. Paid over $8,000 for 6 windows and a sliding patio door. The internal blinds have never worked correctly. Replaced once and still malfunctions. Calling for service means paying $150 regardless of their sucess in solving the problem. Best to save money and hassel and buy Andersen.

We installed two new Pella windows and a very expensive exterior front door. The front door failed within a year, with the glass separating from the door, and the door frame itself was out of square. They replaced the door but the replacement is not standing up to the elements, the front of the door is peeling off and looks terrible. One of the windows is peeling and cracking along the frame. I thought this was a reputable company. The builder grade windows are twice as old as the Pella windows and they're holding up better!

Over the last 20 year's I have used Pella products very successfully in my remodeling business. The sales person I deal with in burlington vermont is great with my customers and tremendous with the details of the order. Delivery is always on time and well packaged. The price point is always very competitive with Marvin and Andersen. Quality of the products are good,

Very disappointed with Pella, installed Pella windows and doors about 12 years ago. Sale and installation went fine. However recently the lock on the screen door malfunctioned. We were literally locked out of our house. After getting in we contacted Pella, explained our problem and asked for immediate assistance. They said a "skilled technician would contact us within 5-7 business days. I said that was unacceptable in that we had a serious problem. They never responded! After 10 days I followed up on my request They never responded. We have now called in an outside service repairman to fix the problem. Will never deal with Pella again!

We needed some replacement windows….we decided to go with Pella. They are a name brand window product and we were interested in some of the features they have. We put our trust in Pella Products.
We purchased six windows from: Pella Windows & Doors of Omaha. We ordered their “top of the line” series, total price over $15,000.00. It was a bad experience from start to finish (the total process took in excess of six months from initial purchase date, to original install, to re-installs, etc.) We experienced multiple problems with the installation(s), poor workmanship and communication. To say that our experience with Pella Windows was less than pleasant would be an understatement. We write this, in the hope of saving other families from this kind of frustration, loss of time and money.
When it came time to settle the final bill, we had a sit down with Mr. Shawn Huyser, General Manager-Replacement Division. We felt there needed to be just and right compensation for Pella’s issues of unsatisfactory installation(s), inferior workmanship and very poor communication. We had many times of missed work and much inconvenience when dealing with all the issues/problems during this whole process. We said to Mr. Huyser, “We would have had no problem in paying the total amount on the contract, which we signed, had the work been properly completed on the initial installation.” The General Manger stated to us and we quote, “Nowhere in your contract does it say we will get it right the first time.” We attempted to go over the history of our installation and its many problems and explain things to him. Very soon into the conversation, Mr. Huyser stated that we currently did not have warranty on our windows and that he would put a lien on our home, if we did not pay the second half of our payment. At no time did we state we would not pay for services rendered, we wanted to discuss just compensation for Pella’s errors, our trouble, and inconvenience. In the end, the total price paid was reduced by $1400.00. A number that was not to our satisfaction for Pella’s multiple workmanship issues and poor communication and the frustration it caused us, not to mention the several times we had to take off from work to address them. We did ask for and received a signed copy of our warranty before leaving Pella’s showroom. We do have concerns going forward, if there is need for warranty work. We have also left phone messages for the President [Greg Boulay] of Pella Windows & Doors of Omaha, to return our calls, to date he has not returned our phone calls.
We cannot and do not recommend the use of Pella Windows & Doors Residential/Replacement Services.

DON’T use Pella. I purchased eight windows and three patio sliding glass doors from Pella for over $17,000 (before discounts), which were installed in November 2014. When the black PVC trim on the patio sliding door warped, I found out that Pella had knowingly installed a defective product. According to a Pella Senior Logistics Supervisor “When PVC is painted brown or black, it was[will] absorb so much heat that it will warp ....” Pella knew the PVC trim would warp and installed it anyway.
After I made a warranty claim in November 2016, it took over six months for Pella to complete the repair. They brought the wrong part to the first appointment, and after a month, when I contacted them to inquire on the repair’s status, I was told that it “fell through the cracks” and the matter would be escalated. Pella then canceled the second repair appointment because they did not have enough material, and the third appointment was canceled because not all the repair material was painted. Pella finally installed a replacement material on the fourth appointment, but the material did not work. So a fifth appointment was scheduled to repair the trim, and then a sixth to paint the repaired area.
When I contacted the General Sales Manager of the Pella store where I purchased the windows and patio sliding doors to discuss some of these issues, he was, in my opinion, adversarial, disrespectful and rude. His responses gave me the impression that Pella was not going to take any responsibility for its numerous mistakes.
In summary, (1) Pella knowingly installed defective material; (2) Pella’s customer service on this warranty repair was atrocious; (3) I had to take personal time off work numerous times (which I can never get back) trying to get this repair completed, which was delayed over and over due solely to Pella’s errors; and (4) it took more than six months for this repair to be completed as a result of Pella's mistakes. Pella’s marketing materials state that "At Pella, we're committed to doing things right..." However, my installation and their customer service was not "done right."

We just had Pella windows installed in our new custom home. A significant number of the latches can't be opened by my wife or children. This is a dangerous situation and so far 3 Pella reps acknowledge the situation but have not been willing to replace the latches. My advice is pick another brand.

Terrible experience. Waiting for the replacement parts which are under warranty from Pella for more than 10 days, but never received and no tracking number. Called customer service today again and been told either pay to order the parts now or pay to schedule technicians to come. So it means no warranty at all!

I do not recommend Pella windows to anyone. We installed them throughout our house about 10 years ago and about half of them are now faulty so that they can't be properly opened and closed. We don't live in unusual or harsh climate conditions and the windows have not been excessively used, some have barely ever been opened.

We installed Pella windows and doors in 2001 and then replaced non-Pella windows in 2015. The responsiveness from the San Antonio office has been horrible! We replaced door hardware in 2015 due to tarnishing of the initial Pella hardware and now we are experiencing the same problems with the new hardware. I contacted the Pella office on 4/14 and didn't receive a call back. I then contacted them again on 4/26 and was told I would receive a call back, but didn't. The service admin answering the phone was hesitant to give me her Manager's name or the name of the General Manager. Will Mitchell, the GM, finally returned my call and discussed options for replacement. Unfortunately, we will not use Pella products again in our home. The products and the customer service are not worth the premium price the consumer pays.

We ordered replacement windows through Pella. The installation was completed over 3 days in early August. In early December I received a "final" notice from Pella to complete a review of the project or the online review opportunity would be cancelled. Ironically the work has not been completed as of December (and this writing) so I guess I was supposed to evaluate a "half-completed" job!
I should state that--so far--we are very happy with the Pella product. The windows arrived as scheduled, fit as measured and were installed within the time indicated. Of course, with windows its time--measured in years, not weeks or months--that matters.
And in the Pella system the primary weakness from our perspective is they do not have their own installers but rely on independent subcontractors for all installation work. Yet our contract was with Pella not the subcontractor, and the problems arose with the installer not finishing the job. This put the burden on us to call Pella, who then caller the contractor, who would tact a little additional finish work at our home on the end of the day spent on another job. Each time a worker came to finish the job, he/she had to be introduced to the project because they never sent the same worker twice. And the last time a worker arrived at about 5:30PM on in early December and it was dark by 5:45PM. In addition to net being able to see, he didn't have the right equipment and didn't know what he was supposed to do!!
This is a very, very poorly managed system and detracts mightily from what appears to be basically a good product. My recommendation is that if Pella wants to be in the replacement window business, they should get in all the way--including installation--so they can be certain the job is done correctly.
For those considering Pella replacement windows, I recommend that you not pay the full amount in advance. We did so because Pella offered a reduced price for payment in full. BUT as with all construction work, once the money has been exchanged the work never seems to get done. It has taken from August to mid-December that the project is not complete yet. The continuing problem of getting the contractor to the site to finish up the work has been a real hassle and not worth the little we saved on the project.

Today is Nov.1st. I ordered a custom entry door in July along with sliding patio doors and a side entry door. My first install date was supposed to be September 9. I never received a call to confirm and when no one appeared on that date, I called the install scheduler in Ft. Worth. No response or call back. I called my salesman who looked into it and found out they hadn't been made yet. More calls to find out when and finally I was told Sept 28th and to make up for their mistake I was offered $500 refund, which I agreed to. I have not seen that check as yet. That date came and went and finally after calls to customer service in Iowa was told early October. First in was the entry door. After the salesman carefully measured and created an exact sizing of the transom window on butcher paper, Pella sent out another technician 3 times in early august to re-measure what the salesman had done. Needless to say the door was incorrectly measured by the Pella technician. The transom part was the wrong size and shape and currently there are four-inch gaps on either side of the doorframe between the door and the house.
Next up were the sliding doors to the patio. Nothing unique about those except the price. The doors went in nicely, but the locking mechanism wasn't aligned correctly. The sliding screen door worked fine for two days despite being out of alignment. There is a 3/8 inch gap between the right top of the screen frame and the door frame that is not there on the bottom.
Finally, came the side entry door. They shipped a door that was 3 inches too large for the opening. That had to go back.
The next day I tried reaching the local scheduler but as she never returned calls or informed me about delays I called corporate again. I got as high as the presidents office staff that were very polite and helpful. From them I found out that delivery was scheduled for the 28th of October. No surprise then that it is now Nov. and no sign of the door yet.
To say I am disappointed would be a huge understatement. Since they were here I still have the materials they brought to install the doors, resting against the side of the house. A constant reminder of the non-communication from the local scheduler and the company's failure to trust the measurements of the salesman. I was finally called by the scheduler who told me it would be this week. What do you think Las Vegas would put those odds of happening?
The team that did the install did the very best with what they were sent. But even they can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!
This house was completely fitted with Pella windows and they have worked very well. It appears that “Made in America” doesn’t mean what it used to when it comes to doors.

The wrong doors were ordered and do not fit properly. Pella does not stand behind the salesman's error when he measured the door openings and therefore ordered the wrong sized door jams. All Pella wants to do is to put band aids on top of the existing error. Because of the narrow jam size, problems will develop around the opening of the doors and cause weather and other damage to our home.

We purchased a Designer Series French Door door-- upgraded where available and it arrived with a scratch in the glass. When you pay $$$$ for a french door, direct from Pella, you would think it would be top quality. We were using this door as a "tester" to see if the customer service and the product would be worth installing into our entire very large home with a lot of windows. We did receive a call today to have a technician come out and get our PO#, but he is not coming out for another week, I guess because our order was so small, the PO# is not coming up in their system-- however, the supplier we purchased from gave them the PO#. I mean, seriously?! I contacted them one day after the door was installed and I noticed the 6 inch scratch. I can assure you, the 25+ very large windows we were going to purchase for our home will not be from Pella. If we have this much difficulty getting our door fixed-- we refuse to invest in the windows that may come in scratched (where is quality control?-- this was not a Home Depot/Lowes door!). Well done, Pella, lost another customer-- and this time my order would have been plenty large to be in your system, so you wouldn't need to waste my time to get a PO#, look at the door, and then come back yet another time to fix the glass.

had to replace handle and lock on Pella Door that was 10 years old and stuck locked. It took Pella Service over 3 months to get handle ordered and installed. When service came the handle was polished not brushed finish - as old handle. I had it installed anyway because we really missed being able to use our back door. It cost us over $ 820. Where they screwed in new lock component into door, screws put in all at angle - not even flush. We should have just replaced the door months ago with one that was not a Pella.

I purchased Pella sliding patio door. After 15 years It got rot from water runoff onto my patio from the roof with no gutters. 5 years after the warranty, they replaced the door for a very discounted price, much below list price and even significantly below my contractors discounted price. Very good people to interact with during the process as well.

BE VERY CAUTIONS BUYING PELLA WINDOWS...I bought their top of the line wood/aluminum Architectural series windows and in the first 10 years I had 7 windows rot which they replaced under warranty...then in the 11th year I had another 5 showing signs of rot and they refused to replace them saying...sorry just right out of warranty. I tried to seal them (leaking from the joints on the aluminum frames...very poor design) For the past few years I've fought with them to get them replaced or at least a major discount. What I'm left with is finally having to replace them and Pella only is giving a 20% discount (which they say I should be happy to get) and a $12,000 bill. I originally paid $16,000 for all the windows!!!! No having to replace less than half of them for 75% the original cost. HORRIBLE design...Inspect the frames when you get them and you will see they are not sealed properly on the outside. My windows were fixed windows so they were not even ones that open/close. See photo...Have many more examples.

Not a great company to work with. We needed to modify a window order a week after our deposit deadline and the salesman refused to return calls for several weeks until after the factory had started production and then told us it was out of his hands. Salesman and manager continued to fail to make promised follow up calls.
Poor service for expensive windows.

I had approximately 80+ Pella true-divided-light windows and about 12+ of their high-end wood exterior doors installed at a large remodeled house that was completed in April, 1997. I have had nothing but problems with Pella from day one, both the windows and doors. For example, exterior portions of the windows have rotted extensively and doors have rotted and have had to be replaced The exterior laminate has fallen off the doors and overall, what were represented to me by Pella as the best and highest-quality windows and doors available, have been a recurring nightmare. Pella has ignored repeated requests for service and has denied responsibility for their own windows and doors..

I chose Pella for my new home in SC and have been very disappointed in the delivery, quality and service.
The initial order was not correctly delivered and after twice failing to deliver two of the windows correctly we gave up and accepted what we had. The reason for this was the exceptionally long delivery time that could no longer be accepted as it would hold up the build process. In another instance on this build we waited five weeks for a representative to come out and re-install a window after promising a week only. Further, two windows were installed in such a rough manner that the bottom sills were damaged and needed to be replaced and again the wait time was unacceptable. In all these cases I found the response from the local representative was less than satisfactory given the product that they represent.

I have 40+ windows by this company in my Maryland home. The original P***a windows that are 30 years old are fine. The high end windows that were part of a remodel 18 years ago are falling apart. P***a replaced one door and one window because they had totally disintegrated within the warranty period. They admitted the material used at the factory to seal the exterior casing to the glass had disintegrated along the bottom edge, allowing water in. I had to pay for installation and painting the replacements. They refused to make good on the other 20+ windows even though they were already beginning to fall apart. Instead they caulked them - poorly. I just found another window that was literally falling apart in my hands as I cleaned it. It is like watching dominoes fall. Replaced P***a windows in Hawaii house (which also fell apart) with JeldWen. No P***a products ever again.
