Altogether, Hilton’s lifestyle brands, which include design-forward, centrally located hotels across the globe, make up one of the company’s most rapidly expanding pipelines. As of 2022, signings for these brands accounted for nearly 20% of the category’s total pipeline of 55 hotels, more than half of which are in the U.S.
Matt Schuyler, chief brand officer at Hilton, said in a statement that the opening of Tempo by Hilton “reflects the ongoing growth of our lifestyle brands that are reshaping the traditional hotel experience.”
In the heart of Times Square, the Tempo by Hilton hotel is located on the busiest corner in the the Western Hemisphere — more than 400,000 people pass by each day on average. The 36-floor hotel is within the new TSX Broadway tower, which features experiential retail and entertainment spaces as well as the Palace Theatre.
Designed by Wimberly Interiors and Mancini Duffy, the hotel features flexible common spaces that encourage socializing, working and unwinding. The 11th-floor lobby offers a “hydration station” where guests can purchase reusable water bottles from Planet Water Foundation and Klean Kanteen that help support water-insecure communities around the world.
The guest rooms have three zones: a well-lit “Get Ready Zone,” a spacious bathroom and an “enveloping” sleep area with Sealy Accelerate mattresses and cooling linens. The rooms offer views of Times Square through floor-to-ceiling windows.
The property also has nine wellness rooms with Peloton bikes, yoga mats and resistance bands. Additionally, 31 Ball Drop rooms will have close-up views of the Times Square ball on New Year’s Eve. A presidential suite will also offer views of the festivities.
The hotel’s food-and-beverage options include Grab & Go, a café and breakfast spot designed in partnership with premium coffee roaster Bluestone Lane, and signature restaurant Highball, which serves shareable plates and turns into a cocktail lounge at night.
The Tempo by Hilton brand has 35 properties under development. The next locations to open will be in Raleigh, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; Louisville, Kentucky; and San Diego.
Earlier this summer, Hilton opened its first lifestyle hotel in San Francisco, a Canopy by Hilton property in the city’s SoMa neighborhood. The Canopy brand’s portfolio includes 37 open properties, with more than 30 under development.
Among Hilton’s other lifestyle brands, Motto by Hilton currently has five open properties with 20 under development.
