To help remove technology barriers and advance equitable student learning outcomes, all students are provided access to Chromebook.
The current HCPSS device deployment implementation plan is:
Pre-K-5: Students will share devices that will be kept at school. Students who have a device identified as a supplementary aid as designated in an IEP or 504 Plan will continue to have a device assigned to them.
6-12: All students have or will receive an HCPSS-issued device to bring back-and-forth from home to school each day.
Chromebook Care
Students who are assigned portable technology devices, including Chromebooks, must adhere to provisions outlined in the policy and the HCPSS Mobile Technology Duties and Obligations notice, and may be fiscally responsible for lost, stolen or damaged devices.

HCPSS continues to invest in information security efforts, upgrade our equipment and ensure that our network is secure, and it is critical that our user groups – which include students, staff and parents/guardians – do their part to maintain a safe virtual learning environment.
To ensure a positive and productive learning environment during Google Meet online sessions, it is important that students and parents adhere to certain guidelines.
Parents/guardians may select to receive automated weekly emails on Sunday summarizing their student’s HCPSS Chromebook internet usage. The same email contains an option to sign up for the Lightspeed Parent Portal, which provides near real-time information on a student’s HCPSS Chromebook internet activity, and offers the ability to pause web browsing when not on the HCPSS network.
A successful virtual instruction program requires collaboration and shared responsibilities among students, educators and families to ensure that every student is supported and has the best chance to learn and thrive.
