You don’t need to be obsessed with fashion to know celebrities have been obsessed with sheer clothing as of late. Whether it’s the red carpet or paparazzi-filled sidewalks, the sea of see-through clothing has been insurmountable. While the trend has been ongoing for what feels like years now, Jennifer Lopez just offered a refreshing take that emphasizes the garment more than it does the body that’s wearing it.

After feting herself for her 55th birthday this past weekend with an extravagant Bridgerton-themed ball, Lopez was seen out and about in the Hamptons on Wednesday, her actual birthday. For the occasion, she swapped her Regency-era attire for something a bit lower-key.

This involved a bright midi shirtdress from Dior. The ’50s-esque piece nodded to the sheer obsession via a gauzy, see-through fabric, which was covered in a sea-green version of the house’s famed Toile de Jouy Sauvage pattern. However, the addition of a breezy white layer underneath added a modest touch to the look.

Lopez punctuated the look with gold lamé ballet flats from Valentino that featured crisscrossing straps covered in square studs. She also sprinkled in a few other accessories that she has been relying on throughout her Hamptons getaway, including octagonal Chloé sunglasses and a Dior basket bag.

While Lopez’s Hamptons birthday trip has been jam-packed with excursions, she took some time yesterday to pen a sweet note to her fans on Instagram.

“It’s hard to believe we have spent all this time together. It’s funny as I sit here contemplating on the most extraordinary journey I still feel like the same girl starting out so full of energy and bravado, so ready to take on the whole world on the outside and yet so tender, fragile and sometimes frightened but always full of love on the inside,” she wrote, captioning photos of herself standing in silk pajamas wearing a “Happy Birthday” tiara. “I have so much love for you. I want you to know on my birthday that YOU are my biggest gift. Besides my family and friends, you have always been there for me in the good times and in the tough times. I can always count on you. And I want you to know that you can always count on me.”
