Prince Louis stole the show at this year’s Trooping the Colour.

Though the world’s eyes were on his mother, Catherine, Princess of Wales—who today made her first public appearance in nearly half a year—the six-year-old prince delivered a range of unmissable facial expressions that cracked up plenty of royal watchers.

At the annual event, an official celebration of his grandfather King Charles III’s birthday, the young prince was spotted dancing while waiting alongside his family, as the Waleses prepared to make their eagerly awaited Buckingham Palace appearance. See below for all the photos.

In a clip shared on X (formerly Twitter), Prince Louis was seen swaying his hips from side to side as he danced to the royal band’s music. “Oh how sweet how much fun is Prince Louis having it’s adorable,” one fan tweeted. While his moves seemed to get a laugh from his fans online (and his mother), his older sister seemed less than impressed, appearing to tell him to “stop” when she exchanged words with him.

Meanwhile, another account shared a clip that showed nine-year-old Princess Charlotte explaining to her youngest brother how to stand during the national anthem. She straightened her own posture before advising Prince Louis to stiffen his arms and keep them by his side. Later, a short video captured the young prince playing with curtain cords as he impatiently waited to make his balcony appearance alongside his family.

Earlier in the event’s proceedings, the young prince enjoyed a covered carriage ride during the royal procession and gave a little royal wave to onlookers, as reported by the BBC. He shared the Glass State Coach ride with Charlotte, 10-year-old brother Prince George, and his mother, who made her first public appearance since Christmas. Kate underwent surgery in January, and in March announced she had been diagnosed with cancer after the procedure.

According to the BBC, the Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte were “seen wiping the windows of their carriage to be able to see the crowd, who were cheering as they proceeded along the Mall.” Once the pair were done wiping away the fog from the windows, they both gave royal onlookers and those in attendance a little wave as well.

Though Prince Louis doesn’t accompany his parents on public outings as often as his older siblings do, his unexpected appearances usually cause a stir. During last year’s Easter service, he could be seen making an array of funny faces, and before that, he went viral for covering his ears during the Royal Air Force’s special flypast at Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
