Marguerite Strasser
With a great inclination towards all things artistic, from museums and art galleries to sculpture and architecture, music festivals and concert halls, … I am eager to share with you ways of seeing, hearing and perceiving the city in the diversity of its heritage, forms and developments. I tailor each tour to your specific interests - this also means explaining in as much depth as required, allowing for time to look, to take in the novelty and for the mind and the senses to make those essential links. I enjoy taking children and teenagers around (I am a mother myself) and may easily introduce favourite themes to the tours such as Peter Pan in Hyde Park, the Romans in the City or Shakespeare in Southwark. I can extend the boundaries of your visit to London. Should you wish to include Canterbury, Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath, Oxford or Stratford-Upon-Avon in your itinerary, let me know and I will arrange for a car with a driver to take us to these fascinating sites on one or more day trips. Here again, the visit can be structured around a specific theme.
Born in the UK, I have spent my life in this country as well as abroad, covering North America, the Middle East, Western and Eastern Europe and Russia, always discovering and adapting to other people’s cities, traditions and cultures. My university studies have always focussed on art, society and culture and it is in these fields that I feel I can offer the best. With the Blue Badge Guide training programme, I have learned to create an informed and entertaining commentary which provides historical information with anecdotes and current updates. I will always adjust my tour to the nature of my audience, whether you are a resident of London, of the UK, or a visitor from abroad.
So wherever you come from and whatever your interests, I invite you to join me, Marguerite, on any of the visits listed below, knowing that I am versatile in creating new tours to cater to your specific interests. Just get in touch and it will be my pleasure to ensure that you get the very best of what Britain’s royal capital and surrounding towns have to offer!
