Kaare Nielsen
I am a Londoner and I love to share my in-depth knowledge of and enthusiasm for this great city with visitors from all over the world as well as fellow Londoners. The main purpose of my guiding is to have you enjoy yourself, be at ease, and have fun as well as being informed and entertained. You will see sides of London, you have never seen before and didn't know existed. You will learn new stuff about London, which you cannot read in a book or on the internet. I have 20 years of experience as a Tour Leader and Tour Operator for groups travelling to London, Britain, and USA-Canada.
If you have a special interest in London, then please contact me for a suggestion for a guided walking tour or a guided visit to a museum, a gallery, or another venue. I am a qualified London Blue Badge Tourist Guide and feel equally comfortable guiding groups from 1 to 50 people. On the 29th of April 2011, I spent in a TV studio in front of Buckingham Palace commenting on the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Catherine Middleton (the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) for national Danish television, TV2. I was on the panel as the TV2's expert on the wedding venue and the coronation church, Westminster Abbey. You can book me for a guided tour of Westminster Abbey. I also commented for TV2 on Prince Harry's and Meghan Markle's wedding at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. And I commented on the late Queen Elizabeth II's funeral service at Westminster Abbey and King Charles III's coronation at the same venue. My other special interests in London are modern architecture (City of London and Canary Wharf), regeneration and construction (King's Cross and Docklands), literature (Dickens, Shakespeare, Bloomsbury), art (National Gallery, Tate Britain, Tate Modern), politics and war (Winston Churchill & Cabinet War Rooms, Imperial War Museum London), multicultural London (Spitalfields and Brick Lane), human history and culture (the British Museum) and The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
There are many great and inspiring options for guided walks in London: Royal London in Westminster, old London in the City of London with modern "starchitecture" and "greenscrapers", South Bank with the river Thames and institutions of culture, Spitalfields and Whitechapel - multicultural London and Street Art, Greenwich - maritime history and the prime meridian where time begins, Royal Warrants - where the Royals shop in St James's, Soho and Chinatown - the beginning of pop music and London party Centre, Chelsea - the swinging 1960s, music, fashion, art and loads of celebrities, South Kensington - Albertopolis, the Great Exhibition and national museums, King's Cross - railways, industry, redevelopment, tech, education, shopping, and innovative architecture, Canary Wharf - the history of London as the biggest port in the world and the redevelopment to a major financial Centre, The Olympic Park - what has happened since the 2012 Olympics. Other options are William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, James Bond, and Winston Churchill. You could also pick a theme like engineering, architecture, regeneration - or you could ask me to tailor a tour to a specific interest of yours.
