I love London and sharing my knowledge of it with visitors. My clients are groups and individuals, holiday makers and business people.  I'm very adaptable and happy to tailor make your tour to suit your wishes. Walking tours and art galleries are my specialities, see my website for a list of them. If you are a tour operator I know how much work has gone into organising your client's tour. Before becoming a guide I worked in different parts of Europe as a tour operator and I understand that you need an experienced guide who is reliable, flexible, easy to work with and who will take good care of your customers. In 2016 I trained in France to qualify as a Guide-conferencier, the official guides there who are the equivalent to UK Blue Badge Tourist Guides. My speciality region is Nouvelle Aquitaine  with Bordeaux as  a base when I am there. I lived there and in the Pyrenees for a few years and I love being back there. 2020 was a disaster as far as guiding is concerned but the spare time during lockdowns gave me the chance to get to grips with new technologies and I now offer virtual tours and lectures on Zoom.  The virtual tour lasts about 45 minutes and there is time afterwards for Q&A and a chat.  It is called A Walk Around the Gherkin, and its about the buildings, sculpture and history of the area. The lectures are inspired by my WWII walk in Bordeaux. One is the development of the Secret Services  and its called Top Secret London. The other, called Espionage, The French Connection investigates the creation of the Vichy based government in France during WWII, the French resistance and their relationship with the SOE (Special Operations Executive).

Discover the History of Bradgate House, the Childhood Home of Lady Jane Grey

In February, an announcement was made by Historic England that it is to give a grant of £37,160 to help preserve the remains of Bradgate House, the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey. Archaeologists from the University of Leicester have been carrying out digs to find out more about the history of the house and what it would have looked like in Jane’s day. The ruins are in Bradgate Park, a beauty spot dominated by a 212-metre hill. At the top is an eighteenth-century folly called Old John, a tower with an arch which can be seen for miles around.

American Ambassadors In London - At Home And At Work

Visitors from the United States are often interested to see places associated with their own country in London. There are statues or busts of six American presidents in the capital * and one of them, a statue of George Washington, stands in the centre of London in Trafalgar Square. The area around Grosvenor Square in Mayfair is sometimes referred to as “Little America.”

    January in London

January is the best month to visit London if you are a bargain hunter.  To start, the shops have sales which usually start a couple of days after Christmas. Plus most ice skating rinks and funfairs are still open during the first week so if you missed out pre Christmas, now is the perfect time to visit as they are less crowded. Most shops and many museums open on New Years Day.
