Alexandra has lived in London for over 20 years and loves to share her knowledge of this extraordinary ever changing City. She is insatiably curious, so is always absorbing new information and experiences to add to her tours and walks. Alexandra loves Britain's past, 'having studied for a BA in Modern History at Oxford University, but is also mindful of the way in which London today is so responsive and alive to new influences and trends. Borough Market, Spitalfields and Kings Cross are great areas to explore with Alexandra's help. Alexandra particularly enjoys unlocking the delights of London's smaller galleries and museums such as Sir John Soane's Museum, the Dulwich Picture Gallery, the Courtauld Gallery, The Wallace Collection and the Foundling Museum. She is a specialist Oxford City Guide and author of the Blue Badge Guide's Oxford Quiz Book; she and leads walks there frequently as well as guiding across Central Southern England where she also holds a Blue Badge qualification. Exploring the New Forest, Salisbury, Winchester and the Jurassic Coast can be added onto trips to better known locations such as Stonehenge, Windsor and Bath. Alexandra enjoys delivering bespoke experiences for clients in response to their particular needs, interests and requests, including walking and garden tours, and is available to accompany clients on longer trips. As a keen traveler herself, Alexandra is especially conscious of the likely wishes and requirements of her clients and strives, at all times, to make their experience, when in her care, the best it can be. Before launching a career in guiding and hospitality, Alexandra had a successful career in the financial world in London, both as an investment analyst and as a financial journalist. Alexandra is married, with four grown-up children, and has only stepped down from being a Justice of the Peace (Magistrate) along side with her guiding activities. Apart from having a life long interest in history and culture, Alexandra is a keen walker and sportswoman, playing tennis and golf; she also enjoys skiing, cooking, sailing, bridge and music. She is an avid reader and keen theatre goer. As a Blue Badge Guide, Alexandra ensures that her clients' experiences are appropriately enhanced by her guiding. She will always explain and contextualise the sites and locations visited. Alexandra combines extensive knowledge of Britain, past and present, with a pragmatic sense of how to provide clients with an enjoyable and fascinating experience. Alexandra prioritises her clients’ comfort and safety at all times and ensures that their tour is tailored to meet their requirements. Alexandra guides clients of all ages and can facilitate groups of varying sizes.
