About Guide London
Welcome to Guide London!
Back in 1989, a year in which the Berlin Wall came down and English computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee wrote a proposal that would culminate in the World Wide Web, a group of about 80 Blue Badge Tourist Guides in London formed the Association of Professional Tourist Guides (APTG).
Their vision was to make it easy for tour operators and consumers to find the widest variety of Blue Badge Tourist Guides specifically focused on the burgeoning London market. It was also to help Blue Badge Tourist Guides continue to enhance their professional skills.
This association, now known to consumers as Guide London, has gone from strength to strength. In 2019 we celebrated our 30th anniversary.
Our members come from many varied backgrounds including teaching, acting, local government, business, the legal sector, and many others. All of us share a passion to make sure that visitors to London receive the best experience from the professional Blue Badge Tourist Guide community.
Now with over 600 Blue Badge Tourist Guide members and growing all the time, Guide London is recognised as a major player in the London tourism market.
Guide London / Association of Professional Tourist Guides is an active member of the European Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (FEG) and the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA).
