Jacques Courtin opened his first spa on Rue Tronchet, in Paris.

The first Clarins products
Clarins was the first brand to begin selling 100% pure plant extracts, like its Tonic Body Treatment Oil, in perfume stores.
The first customer cards
Committed to listening to women, the Clarins brand invented today's CRM and created the "customer card" which was included in all Clarins packaging to stay in step with their needs.
Like father like son
Christian Courtin joins the family business as head of exports, helping to distribute Clarins products and skincare methods to 130 countries.
Clarins is listed on the stock market
Clarins was listed on the Paris Stock Exchange's second market—an important opportunity for growth for the company.
Our manufacturing plant
Clarins set up its manufacturing plant at the Pontoise site, where all Clarins products are now developed and made for worldwide distribution.
Launch of Double Serum
Clarins developed its Double Serum and worked to perfect its existing formulas by incorporating the latest scientific, technological and botanical innovations. Today the iconic Double Serum is on its ninth formulation.
Launch of Clarins make-up
The Clarins brand launched its first make-up collection—a natural extension of skincare--to reveal every woman's natural beauty via its philosophy: "Clarins: it's all about you".
Olivier Courtin joins the company
Dr. Olivier Courtin joined Clarins to help develop the skincare products and expand the company's spas worldwide. Clarins became the number one in premium facial skincare products in Europe—a status it retains today.
Launch of ClarinsMen
The Clarins brand began exploring new territories with the launch of its men's range: ClarinsMen.
Committing to responsible beauty
The Corporate Social Responsibility Department, which reports directly to the Group’s Managing Director, was founded to anchor Clarins’ commitments to a more responsible beauty and take them even further.
Clarins leaves the stock market
To maintain the company's independence and focus on long-term development, Christian and Olivier Courtin launched a takeover bid to delist the company from the stock market. Clarins is currently wholly owned by the Courtin family.
A new generation
Virginie, Claire, Prisca and Jenna Courtin, […] the daughters of Christian and Olivier Courtin, joined the Supervisory Board. The family tradition is alive and well.

After 11 years as Chairman of the Management Board, Christian Courtin became Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
Clarins builds the future
The Courtin family finalized the construction of a new building in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, which is now home to all of the headquarters and French subsidiary teams.
Jonathan Zrihen appointed President & CEO
Jonathan Zrihen was appointed President & CEO following 25 years with Clarins. During that time, he served successively as President for Asia, Canada, the United States and the Americas.
Domaine Clarins
Clarins acquired Domaine Clarins, an open-air laboratory inspired by permaculture in the heart of the Alps.
My Clarins launch
Clarins began to pursue growth in new areas thanks to My Clarins, a range of new-generation skincare products for young women between the ages of 18 and 29.
A stronger foothold in Asia
To further develop its knowledge and understanding of its customers and their needs, Clarins opened an R&D center in Shanghai.
New governance
Virginie Courtin was appointed Managing Director of the Clarins Group following her time as Deputy Managing Director in charge of CSR. After serving as a member of the Supervisory Board representing Famille C, Prisca Courtin was appointed Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board.
myBlend relaunch
myBlend, a pioneering Clarins brand oringinally launched in 2007, was revamped in May 2022 under the aegis of Dr. Olivier Courtin to invent a new way of living beauty that is more comprehensive, more personalized and more socially conscious.
Clarins Precious launch
Clarins continues to expand into new territories with the launch of its first luxury skincare line, Clarins Precious.
Acquisition of our second Domaine Clarins
The Clarins Group acquires its second Domaine Clarins, a vast natural area of 115 hectares located near Nimes, France – that will become a production and processing site for plants, according to the standards of regenerative agriculture and a laboratory for studying and researching new plant species.
In 2024, Clarins celebrates 70 years of success. From a modest beauty institute to a European leader in premium skincare, we’ve stayed true to our founding philosophy of listening, understanding, and constant improvement. This journey highlights our entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to responsible beauty, guiding us for seven decades at the forefront of beauty.
