it was amazing

This is a harsh book. This is a painful book. This is a funny book. This is a real book. Any teacher teaching urban children should read this book to understand the suffering and pain of street life. It is an accomplishment that the author was able to overcome his past to tell his story.

Louise I missed this when it came out. I'm always looking for the new books, but I need to take time to read this one.

Anthony Keys It's a classic. It came out in 1965. Lol.

Louise Yes. A year or so after it came out the NY Times Sunday Magazine ran a chapter. I remember it being powerful.
