Life at HQ
Founded in 2000, Geocaching HQ is a privately-held company nestled in the heart of the Fremont neighborhood in Seattle, WA. From our office, we enjoy views of seaplanes taking off from Lake Union and sailboats passing under the Fremont Bridge. You might even catch our employees on outdoor meetings while strolling on the Burke Gilman Trail, a pedestrian and bike trail that weaves between HQ and the ship canal.
As a hybrid remote company, we take advantage of our workspace to collaborate in person, celebrate together, and, of course, go out on geocaching adventures. Here at HQ, we foster an energy to build community and connect with one another.

Geocaching is created through a partnership with a global community of enthusiasts, geocaching community volunteers, and businesses, including ours. We earn the right to be the global headquarters for geocaching through ongoing, value-added service to the community, community volunteers, and game. Our community is so enthusiastic about this game that we even hold a film festival.

Caring for planet earth
Because our game is played outside, we see ourselves as stewards of the environment. We demonstrate this through initiatives like Cache In Trash Out® (CITO). Since 2002, this program enables the geocaching community to beautify and restore tens of thousands of outdoor spaces.
Actions often speak louder than words. By participating in a CITO Event, whether by collecting trash, planting trees, or crafting new homes for pollinators, we make our world a better place. Each CITO we attend is a testament to care: care for others, our communities, and our planet. CITO Events can be a safe, socially-distant way to gather that adheres to your local laws and health guidance for outdoor activities. As with all outdoor activities, please follow the most current regulations from public health authorities.
Back at HQ, we have a Green Team dedicated to environmental responsibility. Together, we’ve:
- Subscribed to specialized recycling services & reuse shipping materials
- Donated a tree for every birthday & work anniversary
- Maintain an EnviroStars Champion Level Recognized office space

Adventure Lab
Adventure Lab is an app and platform in development from the team at Geocaching HQ that allows you to create, play, and share unique outdoor scavenger hunts, experiences, and games. There are currently over 30,000 public Adventures available worldwide. The Adventure Lab® app guides players through the process of finding clues, solving puzzles, and completing Adventures one Location at a time.
