- Athletes are making more money than ever, with media rights deals continuing to ratchet up league revenues and driving salaries to levels that would have been unthinkable a few short years ago. But the paydays don’t stop there: The agents behind the scenes also stand to gain as they take commissions on the blockbuster contracts they negotiate.This list of the most powerful sports agents includes agents focused on North American team sports, ranked by an estimate of the maximum commissions they can generate from the playing contracts they manage. In recognition of the particularly high degree of collaboration among agents at CAA, its agents—including several who have previously appeared in Forbes’ ranking—were excluded from this year’s list. All figures are Forbes estimates as of July 2022.
