‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Spoils Big Cameos At San Diego Comic-Con Panel

Following

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman spoiled some big cameo appearances in Deadpool & Wolverine by welcoming the stars to their San Diego Comic-Con panel on Thursday.

Deadpool & Wolverine, of course, officially welcomes the two of the Marvel superhero characters who made their big-screen debut under the 20th Century Fox banner from 2000 to 2017.

When Disney acquired Fox in 2017, though, the company renamed it 20th Century Studios and created an avenue for such Marvel legends as Deadpool, Wolverine, Daredevil, Elektra, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While Deadpool & Wolverine marks the two movie mutants’ first foray into the MCU, the film brings a huge number of other Fox Marvel characters for the ride through cameo appearances.

And while huge spoilers started to leak early Thursday on social media featuring rogue clips of Deadpool & Wolverine from apparent preview screenings, the production took matters into its own hands that night during its panel presentation at San Diego Comic-Con.

The Comic-Con event was called The Ultimate Deadpool & Wolverine Celebration of Life and things got quite lively with the panel’s surprise guests. Here’s a look at some of stars who cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine—spoiled by production itself.

Note: Even though the production already left several cats out of the bag, let this serve as a spoiler warning for the rest of the article in case you still want to be surprised when you see the movie, which is new in theaters this weekend.

Dafne Keen (X-23)

Although Marvel spoiled her appearance in the final Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, the appearance of Dafne Keen—who played the pre-teen mutant Laura Kinney/X-23 in Logan—was kept secret up until that point.

Jennifer Garner (Elektra)

Jennifer Garner—who played Elektra opposite her future husband and now-ex Ben Affleck in Daredevil—also starred in the spinoff film Elektra.

Garner’s appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine has been rumored for quite some time, and when the actor played coy in interviews about whether the rumors were true, it pretty much confirmed that she would indeed show up in the film.

Chris Evans (Johnny Storm)

Long before Chris Evans played Captain America/Steve Rogers in the MCU, he played Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Fox Marvel’s Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

When Evans turns up in Deadpool & Wolverine, he gives the impression that he’s there as Captain America until he utters the fiery phrase “Flame on!” to put The Human Torch back into play.

Channing Tatum (Gambit)

Channing Tatum’s appearance as the mutant Gambit/Remy LeBeau is the most interesting of the cameos in that he never appeared as the character on film.

Yes, Gambit did appear as a supporting character in Hugh Jackman’s 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but a Gambit solo movie with Tatum attached to play the title character never materialized, per TIME.

Now, thanks to the magic of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—where characters exist on different timelines in the Multiverse—Tatum’s dream to play the card-slinging Cajun mutant has finally been realized.

Wesley Snipes (Blade)

Like Chris Evans and Channing Tatum’s cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine—Wesley Snipes’ appearance as Blade was unexpected.

Snipes played Blade—who is a half-vampire and half-human vampire hunter—in three Marvel films, but not under the auspices of 2oth Century Fox but New Line Cinema.

Ironically, Ryan Reynolds starred opposite Snipes in 2004’s Blade: Trinity—the final film in the Blade trilogy—as vampire hunter Hannibal King.

The Panel Didn’t Spoils All Of The ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Cameos

Joining Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and Emma Corrin—and their surprise guests at The Ultimate Deadpool & Wolverine Celebration of Life were the film’s director Shawn Levy and Marvel President Kevin Feige.

If you want to find out what other stars appeared in cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, you can find out by seeing the movie, which is playing in theaters nationwide.
