Taylor Swift’s latest album The Tortured Poets Department is in charge of the Billboard 200 once again this week. The title has now spent 12 weeks atop the tally–the entirety of its stay on the list of the most-consumed projects in the country.
For much of the album’s life, it’s managed to rule two Billboard charts simultaneously. However, this week marks the first time that The Tortured Poets Department doesn’t appear at No. 1 on one list, as it finally steps down and allows another studio effort to run the show.
The Tortured Poets Department is no longer ruling on the Top Streaming Albums chart. Swift vacates the uppermost slot for the first time since she debuted her latest full-length at No. 1 months ago. The set doesn’t fall far, though, as it’s only down to No. 2.
Zach Bryan turned out to be the first musician powerful enough to beat Swift to the summit on the streaming-only ranking. His new title The Great American Bar Scene owns the Top Streaming Albums chart this frame.
That Americana full-length isn’t new to the ranking, though. It rockets from No. 18, where it debuted last week, to No. 1. The Great American Bar Scene opened below the top 10 after just one day of tracking activity, as it was released on Thursday, July 4–just 24 hours before that period came to a close.
Bryan hits No. 1 for the first time on the Top Streaming Albums chart with his latest release. He’s reached the top 10 with three collections, including this latest win. In June of last year, American Heartbreak peaked at No. 10. Just a few months later, his self-titled album brought him to a new high of No. 5.
In its first full tracking period, The Great American Bar Scene earned nearly 164 million streams in the U.S. The Tortured Poets Department, meanwhile, racked up a little less than 95 million plays in the same timeframe, according to Billboard.
The Tortured Poets Department holds Bryan and his new release off on the Billboard 200, where he climbs to No. 2. Next week, it looks like Swift may finally be forced off the throne, as Eminem’s latest seems to be headed straight for the highest rung on the tally.
