Queen Camilla is said to have a staggering net worth that includes a six-figure inheritance and a mansion she uses as a quiet getaway.

Camilla, who celebrated her 77th birthday on Wednesday, amassed a huge wealth before becoming an integral part of the Royal Family. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Camilla has an estimated worth of $5 million (around £3.8 million).

This, the Telegraph says, includes a £500,000 inheritance from one of her grandparents. Camilla also owns a 19th century Grade-II listed home in the hamlet of Reybridge, in Wiltshire.

She bought Ray Mill House for £850,000 in 1996 following her divorce from Andrew Parker Bowles. She even used the property to host her daughter Laura’s wedding in 2006.

Joan Gair, an interior design expert at Housetastic previously told Express.co.uk that Camilla is likely to feel "laid-back" at Ray Mill House. She said: "Queen Camilla’s own home, Ray Mill House in Wiltshire, is likely to be her favourite residence.

"It’s a home she chose to buy and a place where she spends time with family away from public life. So, it’s a more personal space and one she has more freedom to decorate to her tastes."

Camilla's day-to-day work now largely involves supporting King Charles, having married into the monarchy in 2005. In her younger years however, she held a role as a receptionist at a Mayfair-based decorating firm.

Her net worth however pales in comparison to the King. According to the Sunday Times Rich List, the King’s net worth rose last year by more than £10 million.

It means the monarch is said to be worth a total of around £610 million - making him the 258th richest person in the country. This includes a property portfolio he inherited from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The King privately owns both the Sandringham House in Norfolk and the Balmoral Estate in Scotland - a personal favourite of Elizabeth II. The Sunday Times says his investments also make up £120 million of his net worth.

Balmoral Castle was purchased by privately by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria. While Sandringham House was inherited by Edward VIII, who signed over the property to his brother, George VI as part of a deal after he abdicated.

The King's net worth includes money paid from the Duchy of Lancaster, which made a surplus of around £26.2m last year that could be paid to the monarch. The Duchy of Lancaster had £641.2m of assets last year, although the King cannot take from its assets or capital.
