Prince Harry is reportedly being kept at "arm's length" by the Royal Family following the release of his autobiography Spare.

Over 18 months since the hardback version was released, there is as yet no sign of the paperback edition of the controversial tome that caused shockwaves at the start of last year.

As the literary mystery continues, people have begun to ask questions about where the new edition is and why it hasn’t appeared. One commentator has joked that it could be because Harry doesn’t have anything new to say to put in the new version.

The mystery of the paperback version of Spare comes days after the Duke of Sussex accepted the Pat Tillman Award for Service despite a petition for him not to accept it receiving tens of thousands of signatures.

Writing in the Scottish Daily Mail about the missing version of Spare, Ephraim Hardcastle remarked: “Eighteen months after publication of Prince Harry’s Spare and still no sign of the paperback version.

“Publishers are usually swift to get one on the market, especially if they can market it as containing ‘sensational’ new material. But it seems Harry has no new spare excitement to impart.

“His family has kept him at arm's length, aware that anything they say could be taken down and used in evidence against them.”

In the original version of Spare, Prince Harry made a series of claims about his brother Prince William. Since these were published, there has been speculation about when or if the feud between the two could be repaired.

According to reports, both the heir to the throne and the current monarch, King Charles, have intervened to prevent certain royal appearances either from Prince Andrew or Prince Harry.

Speaking about, William’s role, former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “William has always been a strong character. I think his broken childhood made him tough and resolute.

“He now has the reputation of being stubborn and, once his mind is made up, he sticks to his decision. Obviously, as heir to the throne, his word carries a lot of weight in the family and I think it's true that he has been prepared to take a tough stand on a number of issues, including Andrew and Harry.”

Ms Bond has been the only person to comment on whether Prince William may be blocking a return to the royal fold for Prince Harry. Earlier this month, the Daily Beast reported that a source said there had been a ban on the Duke of Sussex returning.

The source said: “There is a sense that William has stepped into the Prince Philip role. Philip ruled the family with a rod of iron...Now William is calling the shots when it comes to family discipline... He can be scary!”

They added that there was an “absolute ban on Harry returning in any way shape or form to the family fold”.
