The Oscar winner explained that she has been using therapy to help her ever since she was young due to an unhappy upbringing.

"My father was an alcoholic and a very abusive one and my mother knew the value of providing me with an outlet of an unbiased person to talk to, to help me manage my feelings and my emotions," Halle, 46, tells Total Film magazine. "When I'm in a stressful place I will call up a psychologist and go in and have a couple of sessions and work through whatever I'm feeling."

Halle, pregnant with husband Olivier Martinez's baby, has realised the importance of separating her work from her home life. "I come home and have to be a mum and I have to be the same person I was when I left."
