A talented and prolific hunting photographer, Jim Meads was also fascinated with aviation and caught this image, for which he is best known

IT is seldom really appropriate for anyone to be called “a legend in their own lifetime”, but in the case of Jim Meads, hunting photographer extraordinare, who has died aged 93, it is truly deserved.

His reputation as the “running photographer” was earned on both sides of the Atlantic. His physical fitness and deep knowledge of hunting enabled him to take action shots of a day's hunting that would have been beyond most photographers.

During his career, he hunted with a total of 520 packs of hounds in the UK,
