EuroPython is the largest conference for the Python programming language in Europe, and one of the largest Python conferences word-wide. It regularly attracts 1200-1400 attendees from all over the world.
The conference series was initiated by the European Python community in 2002 as a yearly event. Since then we’ve come a long way.
In 2004, the EuroPython Society (EPS) was founded as a non-profit organization to back the conference, hold the IP rights and manage the selection process. Starting in 2015, the EPS also engaged in organizing the event and since 2017, the EPS has been running the event, after it had reached a size which was no longer manageable by local organizations.

- This was the first major Python conference run entirely by volunteers from the Python community.
- At the same time, it was the first major Python conference held in Europe, after Marc Poinot had kick started Python gatherings in Europe the year before, with the organization of the “European Python Meeting“ at LSM 2001 in Bordeaux.
