The Utah Jazz are surely making good use of the Lauri Markkanen opportunity to get the bulk of young talent from the Warriors. Although the Dubs offered Moses Moody, future pick swaps, and draft picks, the Jazz have a much larger deal in mind. As per Shams Charania of The Athletic, their asking price includes breakout star, Jonathan Kuminga and rising star, Brandin Podziemski, too! Golden State has their eyes on these two to be their cornerstones once Stephen Curry also retires. So, the chances of such a deal going through seem quite unlikely.

After all, the Paul George trade did not happen because the Warriors were unwilling to part with Kuminga. While the Jazz and Dubs continue this tango, two Bay Area veterans have quite concerning views on the franchise’s future post-Steph Curry. NBC Sports’ Dalton Johnson, joined 95.7 The Game for The Morning Roast, to give his views on the current roster the Warriors boast. According to the vet, the GSW are definitely a better team than they were last year, even without Markkanen.

However, he has his doubts on whether they are a contending team. “Yes, I 100% think they are a better team right now. Are they the team that they need to be to be a contender? No, we all know that. We all know what’s missing from the team this year and it’s why they’re still going after a Lauri Markkanen so hard right now…”

“It’s why they even checked in on the possibility of a LeBron James at last year’s trade deadline. They know that they need that No. 2 next to Steph Curry,” Dalton concluded. As mentioned earlier, if done right, the franchise has enough talents in its midst to turn the tide around in its favor. The talented youngsters they have are players nearly the entire league has their eyes on!

In fact, Kuminga, Moody, and Podz would all have immediate takers were they to be made available. But anybody who’s been following them closely would see that the Dubs are planning to let Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski take over from Stephen Curry once the Warriors legend hangs up his boots for good.

There’s no doubt that Curry is entering the last years of his prime. With the addition of a 4th member to his family, the father and husband in him are undoubtedly looking forward to quality family time. And maybe just a transition into politics.

After all, the 4x champion wasn’t completely against being the President of the United States. And yet, with such a hammer ready to drop any time, another media veteran does not harbor much hope for the dynasty’s future.

Bay Area veteran worries the future of the Warriors after Stephen Curry might not be so bright

“The Warriors didn’t win more than 21 games for FIVE years [1998-2002]. The fans who remember that think about life after Curry. The new fans are the ones who want to sell everything for Steph,” Matt Steinmetz said in the latest episode of Steiny & Guru on 95.7 The Game.

It truly was a dark period for the golden dynasty. Suffice it to say that the downfall of the franchise became all too official when former Warriors guard Latrell Sprewell, choked and punched the then-coach, P. J. Carlesimo during practice in 1997. He was suspended for the remainder of the season (68 games). However, the resulting articles and news proved to be more devastating.

One of the more prominent headlines then was “WARRIORS HIT ROCK BOTTOM”.

We all know what everybody thought of the front office’s decision to get the young Davidson standout, Stephen Curry, at the time. His injury history didn’t help their case, either. However, the league and the world would come to know that it was the best decision the franchise had taken in a long time! With the addition of the future lynchpin, Klay Thompson (now ex), and Draymond Green, the Dubs just laid the foundation for a groundbreaking renovation and restoration.

And now, with franchise stalwart Thompson’s exit, the leave-taking of Stephen Curry looming, and GSW’s continued cold feet in decision-making can certainly be a cause to worry. Then again, they are at a critical point in their lives.

Should they let go of their potential future franchise stars for a probable win-now situation? Or hold on to them and somehow turn the current group into a competent squad around Curry for a potential fifth title run in what could be his last years?
