Long-term Observations of Greenhouse gases and Ozone-depleting Substances (LOGOS)

The mission of the LOGOS Division is to make long-term atmospheric measurements of gases that impact climate, stratospheric ozone, and human health. We do this primarily by measuring discreet samples, collected around the world, on numerous instruments. We relate those measurements to robust, traceable calibration scales to ensure the quality and longevity of the observational record. These data, along those collected by CCGG, OBOP, and TTEA divisions within GML, form the basis for the NOAA Global Greenhouse Gas Reference Network (GGGRN), and aid in the understanding of the sources and sinks of various greenhouse gases (GHG), ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and their replacements, and other relevant trace gases. The LOGOS Division incorporates activities previously associated with the Halocarbons and other Atmospheric Trace Species (HATS) division and Carbon Cycle Greenhouse Gases (CCGG) division.
