There’s plenty to say about hotels in Paris these days. The city of lights, love, and luxury has a lot of newness on top of its already bustling hotel population. In anticipation of the Summer 2024 Olympics, it’s no accident tons of new doors are opening. And, sure, this is the type of city where you spend your days perusing museums, designer shops, and restaurants—but where will you stay while doing so? Though you may not be spending 24/7 in your room, would it even feel like Paris if there weren’t just a little bit of charm where you slept?
Until recently, your Internet search might have found you stays at places ranging from over-the-top, opulent icons such as Le Meurice and the Ritz to old hostels on the outskirts of the city—but that’s all changed. Paris has more new hotels than we can count, so we got to testing.
With names like Bulgari and Chevel Blanc entering the game, we’re in a new era of fashion houses–meet–overnight stays. And then there are noteworthy newcomers including Hôtel Dame des Arts and Hôtel Madame Rêve, offering modern spaces and neighborhood feels while being right in the heart of the city, all without completely emptying your bank account (by Parisian standards at least).
If you’re looking to stay central in the First or the Second Arrondissement, you can hit the Seine along the Jardin du Luxembourg before you wait in line at the Louvre. Or if you’re intent on heading down to the Golden Triangle, it’s just a short walk from the Champs-Élysées. No matter what, these are winners worth booking.
While this list doesn’t contain all the new hotels in Paris, these are the ones we personally stayed at—and would stay at again.
La Fantaisie

The highly anticipated La Fantaisie feels like a vision in the Faubourg-Montmartre neighborhood of Paris’s Ninth Arrondissement. Befitting its name, the hotel has a whimsical floral design, by Swedish designer Martin Brudnizki, with surprises in every corner, from the large rooms (some with balconies) to the beautiful restaurant covered in flowers, led by Dominique Crenn, an Esquire Best Chef and the only female chef in America to earn three Michelin stars. The underground spa, with four baths, is made for replicating ancient healing rituals and for the curative power of subterranean springs. Hôtel Dame des Arts

A property that serves style and location and is also one of the most affordable on this list—what’s not to love? Opened in early 2023 in the Six (better known as Saint-Germain-des-Prés or the Left Bank, aka Paris’s hottest neighborhood), the hotel had one of the bigger launches in the past few years. Why? Simply because of how much it offers. With 109 rooms designed by Raphael Navot that show off artistic quirks, there’s more charm than stiff old-school vibes here. That’s accompanied by cool features like a high bed where you can store your luggage underneath in order to save room to a gym that looks like it’s from the future. One third of the rooms have terraces, most of which boast views of the Eiffel Tower. It’s one of those places where you open the door and think, Ahh, I’m in Paris now. There’s a bar with a DJ on weekend nights, a restaurant with North Pacific–inspired food (a rarity in Paris hotels), and a rooftop where even locals wait in line to drink. Our tip: Stay here before the price hikes up. But when it does, you can check out its sister property, Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs. Rooms from approx. $337

Hotels that don’t quite seem like hotels are sometimes exactly what you need, especially in a city such as Paris. If you want to escape the tourist vibe and feel as if you’re returning to a cozy apartment after your day of sightseeing, Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs offers you just that. The charismatic staff can provide you with a quick recommendation without breathing down your neck. Take a serene break in a classic old-world-style bedroom—and by Parisian standards, it’s on the large side. While the atmosphere is relaxed, you still get the luxury of a bar and restaurant downstairs, with an American-French blended menu. (Told you you’d feel at home.) Another great perk is the gym, outfitted with high-tech equipment next to stunning tile art by Italian artist Osanna Visconti di Modrone. A combination of modernity and old-school charm is in every room of this place. All that said, this is also one of the more affordable options in the City of Lights. Bonus: There’s a top-secret bar, Poppy, under the main bar during select hours of the week. And fun fact: It features original lithographs by Marc Chagall—but don’t touch them or an alarm will ring. Maison Delano Paris

In a city brimming with the finest hotels on planet earth, Maison Delano is a cut above its competition in a couple of petit but key ways. First you have La Chambre Bleue, the on-site restaurant at which three-Michelin-starred chef Dani García crafts complex but comforting French-Andalusian dishes. Then there’s the hotel itself, a staggeringly beautiful neoclassical eighteenth-century mansion situated in the Eighth Arrondissement, only a few steps from some of the finest shopping (bonjour, Hermès flagship store!) this side of the Seine. But really, the semisecret sauce of the Delano is the service. Want a reservation at an impossible-to-get-into Parisian restaurant? Phone calls will be made and a seating will likely be procured. Got a hankering for a particular kind of croissant? It’ll be brought to your door in the morning. Eleven-hour flight got your lower lumbar barking for a massage? Don’t be surprised if a spa reservation has your name on it. Maison Delano is the rare place where the staff can deliver exactly what you want before you know you want it. Rooms from $700
Hôtel Madame Rêve

If you’re looking for a down-to-earth neighborhood vibe, we found just the place—and it’s somehow still right in the middle of the action. Tucked into the First Arrondissement, Hôtel Madame Rêve is all about the feel and the view—right from your bed, that is. There are sixty-three bedrooms and nineteen suites; most wrap around the third floor of this former post office. If you have a room that faces the streets of Paris, you’ll feel the charm immediately. The outer rooms have large, sloped, skylight-like windows that stretch the entirety of the space, making you believe you’re among the rooftops when you wake up. The inner rooms face the stunning garden, with a balcony where you can enjoy your coffee. It’s a win-win. The best feature is the location, which is central but relaxing. You don’t hear any noise outside, and the second you enter your room you’ll forget you’re in the thick of it all. There’s a Mediterranean restaurant that has an octopus dish you need to try—even the locals flock over for their lunch meetings. The Bulgari

The name requires no introduction. The designer house provides more than just a place to sleep; it’s a complete, immersive experience right in the middle of Paris. From check-in to checkout, you’ll see hints of Italian luxury around every corner, like the large Bulgari luggage-style mini bar that greets you as you enter your room. Or the 1,300-square-meter spa, complete with a twenty-five-meter gold-tiled pool that feels like an ancient Roman bath. The rooms are grand—like, bigger than a New York City apartment grand—with huge bathrooms and closets to match. The hotel’s restaurant, Il Ristorante—Niko Romito, is the real gem, though. It’s fitted in Parisian decor down to its custom plates, but taste the tiramisu or white truffle pasta—you’re in Italy now. Everywhere you turn, Bel Paese awaits: Italian linens, robes, and Bulgari toiletries en masse. If you can bear to leave it, exit through the front and you’ll end up right in the Golden Triangle, where you can find the best shopping, a short walk to the Seine and the Champs-Élysées. What the hell do you even say about a place this luxurious? Maybe we should focus on the reaction: Say the name Cheval Blanc in casual conversation and watch the heads turn. For those who aren’t turning heads, it’s the newest hotel to open from LVMH group. And in pure high-end style, there is no piece of luxury or dollar spared on its design or your experience. You’ll find Europe’s longest indoor pool (with a mirror above it), plus fish-bowl-type windows that stare right out at the Seine. (Your balcony also serves as a perfect spot for breakfast!) It doesn’t stop there, though. You’ll also discover a custom scent, candles and soaps, a Dior spa, an in-room steam shower, and, of course, slippers and a robe worthy of wearing longer than just post-shower. SO/ Paris

If you know Paris, you know it’s not about how high up you are but rather where you are. It’s pretty much impossible to find a building centrally located that goes above nine stories. Enter SO/ Paris. While it’s not the most centrally located on this list, it is just minutes from the trendy Le Marais district, or about a thirty- to forty-minute walk from the Left Bank and Jardin du Luxembourg. So why stay slightly out of the way at the SO/? For the view and a bit of modern luxury (and the prices are competitive with other mid-range hotels’). Standing fourteen stories tall, it has one of the best breakfasts, dinners, and club views in the entire city. From your room, you’ll watch the lights of the Eiffel Tower all night long before heading up for breakfast, where you’ll enjoy pastries while you gaze at the Seine. Beyond the view, the interior design is colorful and futuristic. The hotel was designed by architecture firm RDAI, also behind some of Hermès’s most iconic stores; you can feel the fashion inspirations throughout. It might take you a little longer to reach your destination, but you’ll get more square footage for your buck. Rooms from approx. $550
