Social media is incredibly popular, with Hispanic users overindexing on most major platforms. More than half are on a Meta platform, with Instagram and WhatsApp being the most popular. Radio remains relevant, but Hispanics are the most likely ethnic group to pay for Spotify Premium. Tangentially, 32% of Hispanic podcast listeners report making more than $75,000 a year.

We do not yet have podcast metrics for several large countries—such as India and Indonesia—but given the digital usage trends that we do know about, it’s likely that Brazil would still end up as the third- or fourth-largest podcast market in the world even if we had listener data for every country.

YouTube usage is so high, but I don't think that's surprising anymore. So I'm going to go with digital gaming. Of all the kids on the internet, half of them are playing a digital game, and so I think it's really interesting because Gen Z is currently the leading generation, right, even compared to millennials, which are so much bigger than them.

YouTube recently launched a dedicated page for podcasts, while Twitter has placed greater emphasis on podcasts in its Spaces tab. Apple has also made recent podcast investments, including a partnership with NBC.

Spotify monthly user data from July 2023 illustrates its dominance. On Android phones, Spotify had 3.2 million monthly active users, compared with 1.8 million for YouTube Music, 0.8 million for Samsung Music, and 0.4 million for Amazon Music, according to reporting from data intelligence platform Similarweb. Price hikes in several markets, including Canada, may affect Spotify’s leadership position.
