Supporting farmers and food production has never been more important
Food production and the livelihoods of rural communities across the globe are vulnerable to a changing climate. Higher temperatures, fluctuating rainfall and more frequent droughts and floods can contribute to crop damage and supply chain disruptions. These impacts are already here and are expected to intensify in the coming years, just as the global population is expected to increase by 2 billion people by 2050.
Accelerating climate adaptation efforts to protect food production and the agricultural economy is more urgent than ever. Policymakers, food companies and financial institutions have important roles to play in helping farmers worldwide make the changes that will be needed to feed a growing population on a hotter planet.
