DEVCON Kids is an international non-profit organization aiming to make computer science accessible and fun for kids. With a focus on kids from underserved communities, we aim to teach the valuable skills necessary for them to participate in an ever-digital future – and thrive in it.

About Us

Our Mission

To provide equitable access to foundational computer science education for children to:

Build confidence in ability to succeed in Computer Science, and
Increase interest in STEM across subject areas and
Increase interest in pursuing STEM-related careers

Our Impact

Since 2018, DEVCON Kids has brought coding classes, programming activities, competitions, and expos to the Filipino youth. We have made the first step in increasing the breadth of our impact, with the opening of our Chapter in Los Angeles, USA, and are eager to empower even more kids in computer science.

Pam Ros Damarillo

With over two decades of leadership within nonprofits, she currently serves as the Program Director for DEVCON Kids in both the Philippines and the USA, along with her role as President of CSTA Philippines. Her work in both roles truly reflects her unwavering and inspiring dedication to equipping children and educators with tech skills, and her academic background in Learning Technology and Social Innovation only bolsters her commitment to fostering computer science on a global scale.

Cagayan De Oro

Philippines

Cagayan de Oro is the first DEVCON chapter to adopt the DEVCON Kids program outside of Metro Manila. Adopted in 2018, our Cagayan Chapter has the most activity reaching children and college students through their OJT rotations and a strong partnership with the DICT Region X officers.

Cebu

Philippines

Activated in February 2023, DEVCON Kids Cebu volunteers are made up of young professionals and college students. A most recent highlight is their participation in the Computer Science Teachers Association event by showcasing teaching and learning robots and microcontrollers.

Davao

Philippines

The Davao program has made great strides in empowering kids in underprivileged areas. They have conducted code camps with children from SOS Village and extended their outreach program to remote areas of the province.

Iligan

Philippines

DEVCON Iligan’s close alignment with the city’s IT initiatives makes it unique among all our chapters. As the newest chapter to adopt the DEVCON Kids Program, we have high hopes for the children of Iligan.

Los Angeles

USA

The LA Chapter was established in October 2022 in partnership with Faith Church LA and with generous donations from the World Economic Forum's YGL community and Talino Venture Labs. In its first year, it hosted a successful Discovery Expo attended by 165 adults and children. The chapter is actively recruiting volunteers.

Manila

Philippines

Established in 2023, the Manila chapter is soon to host code camps in 2024.

Iloilo

Philippines

A chapter based in Panay which aims to promote the "IT" by providing a unique venue for IT students and professionals.

What We Do

Code Camps

Code Camps Kids ages 9-15 can explore the fundamentals of computer science through fun and engaging activities such as coding a robot, animating a cartoon, or creating their own games and mobile apps. These camps are crafted to align with K-12 computer science standards, and are led by trained and experienced Lead Learners.

Discovery Expos

Play, learn, and code! K-12 children, their parents and friends come together for a three-hour, hands-on festival where they can experience the wonders of Computer Science. Set in the style of science fairs, every activity station they visit gives them participation stamps to collect and use in a grand prize drawing.

Competitions

Our virtual and in-person competitions are a great opportunity for kids to test their computer science knowledge and skills. Teaming up with friends and competing with other Chapters around the world will help build their confidence and develop problem-solving skills, which are essential in other areas of life.

Lead Learner Workshops

Lead Learners are the dedicated educators who guide and inspire young minds to explore the fascinating world of coding. To become one, community members undergo a special training to acquire the necessary knowledge, tools, and teaching methodologies to effectively deliver our courses.
