00:00The Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, from Singapore, came and I discussed what I had discussed before,
00:14that we give pressure in English, in Malay, in Benghatar, in Malay, in official language,
00:21but in English we want to press now.
00:23So I told them, is it possible to have a scheme from Singapore,
00:30like a help scheme or in terms of diplomatic relations between countries,
00:40for them to help.
00:43We don't choose a guru from Singapore,
00:46listen first, sometimes it takes three minutes for experts,
00:49and then it spreads on social media.
00:52The fact is wrong.
00:54What is wrong?
00:55The wrong thing is that we will now appoint English teachers from Singapore.
01:01That's wrong.
01:02What I discussed with the Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong,
01:05is to hold a help scheme,
01:09or appoint someone who is willing,
01:12who is paid by the Singapore government,
01:14to go to areas,
01:16especially in urban poor areas and villages in the interior of Sabah and Sarawak,
01:21to teach English.
01:23That's why now I want to create a better relationship between countries.
01:27We want to be good with Thailand, with Singapore, with Brunei,
01:31with Indonesia, our important neighbours.
01:34And among them, I said,
01:36I had discussed about the economic zone, Johor,
01:40and investment and trade.
01:43I said, take the initiative,
01:47to create a good relationship.
01:50So people saw that there was a graduate from Singapore
01:55who came in the Singapore volunteer scheme
01:59to teach English.
02:01That was our offer.
02:02They said,
02:03I don't respect my own people.
02:05For example,
02:07if they ask,
02:08Anwar, what do you mean?
02:10Do you want to take Singapore teachers
02:13instead of Malaysian teachers?
02:15You can ask.
02:17We went to all the countries.
02:18He was from Uzbekistan.
02:19He had his own university.
02:21He wanted to send his students here.
02:22I said,
02:23it would be good if we sent a lecturer or a professor
02:27to take a look at some of the changes
02:31that were made there.
02:32In Japan,
02:33with Prime Minister Kishida.
02:35I discussed it.
02:36I said,
02:37do you want to work together?
02:38He had a Sukuba University branch,
02:40a campus he wanted to build.
02:41I said, okay.
02:42I also know Waseda,
02:43a good economic faculty.
02:46I gave a speech at the University of Kyoto
02:49about Japanese culture.
02:51A great Japanese thinker that I respect,
02:54Toshihiko Izutsu.
02:56He wrote a book about
02:58Sufism and Taoism.
03:00He was a very deep Islamic scholar.
03:04He translated the Quran
03:06into Japanese
03:08with good quality.
03:10He wrote about epistemology
03:13and in God and Man
03:15in the Quran.
03:17Who is he?
03:18Toshihiko Izutsu.
03:20Kyoto University gave birth to such a person.
03:23I said,
03:24we can be part of the JAKIM research,
03:27or the Islamic University,
03:28or USIM.
03:29There is cooperation.
03:31So,
03:32the world now demands cooperation
03:36in this way.
03:38Don't be too hasty
03:41to attack.
03:43It's wrong to criticize.
