A brand new teaser trailer dropped for the highly-anticipated Wicked movie on Wednesday - and fans can't contain their excitement.

The official social media accounts for the film dropped the thirty-second sneak peak clip with the caption: 'Welcome to Oz #WickedWednesday.'

The two-part film is an adaptation of Broadway's hit 2004 musical Wicked, and is starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West.

It features an unlikely friendship that emerges between Elphaba and Glinda, two clashing witches in the magical land of Oz. 

In a newly teased scene, Elphaba is shocked as she reads a letter that says: 'The wonderful Wizard of Oz welcomes you to the Emerald City.'

 Then, the trailer cuts to the green witch speeding away on a train to make her journey, shouting to Ariana's Glinda: 'Come with me! To meet the wizard.'

Wielding her recognizable, billowing, puff sleeved pink dress, Glinda begins sprinting down the platform to keep up.

She exclaims: 'What? 'I couldn't possibly, this is your moment,' before quickly changing her mind and shouting 'I'm coming,' as she leaps onto the moving train.

In the dramatic teaser, a voiceover says: 'Just follow the road. It's gonna lead you right' as the words 'Welcome to Oz' flash onto the screen.

Fields of pink, purple, blue and yellow can be seen for miles, as well as the iconic yellow brick road and fireworks erupting from a castle in the distance.

It ends with climactic scenes of a statue on fire and of Elphaba smashing through a window and flying away.

Part One of the movie  is set to be released on November 27, 2024 and part Two will be released November 26, 2025. 

The rest of the cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Keala Settle, Bronwyn James, Adam James and Bowen Yang.

Wicked is the origin story of 'a green-skinned woman who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.' 

It serves as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, exploring the narrative before Dorothy's arrival and delving into the former friendship between the characters Elphaba and Glinda. 

Fans were thrilled at the shock new teaser trailer, taking to X to express their excitement at the movie's release, writing:

Shooting for the film wrapped in January. At the time, Ariana shared an emotional post about her experience shooting Wicked.

'I will never forget even a minute of my year(s) with [Glinda],' she wrote on her Instagram Story. 'Or you. or my Cyn [Cynthia Erivo]. Permanently and preferably intertwined,' she wrote on Instagram, at the time.

She continued: 'I am so inexplicably thankful that we got to add so many soggy eyelashes to the collection.'

The two-time Grammy winner went on to thank the film's director, Jon M. Chu, as she admitted that 'there aren't words quite yet' to describe her emotions.

'Thank you, Jon, for leading the way with such compassion, openness, brilliance and kindness,' she concluded. 'I have never seen someone conduct a space the way you do. I love you so much.'

Her post was in response to Chu's Instagram post, bidding farewell to their time together on set.

The film director, 44, declared that he would 'never forget' his year working with Grande.

'Can't wait for you to meet her,' he told his followers.

He concluded: 'Thank you @arianagrande for pouring your heart into Oz.'
