Celebs go voting - and don't they want us to know about it! Lizzie Cundy leads stars at the polls

Polls have opened across the UK in today's general election and the celebrities have been making sure everyone knows they have cast their votes. 

From 7am until 10pm, millions of Britons will head to polling stations to cast their vote in the first Westminster contest since 2019.

And the stars are among them as the likes of Lizzie Cundy, Myleene Klass, Ashley James, Piers Morgan, Tony Robinson and Charles Dance took part in the voting.

Socialite Lizzie, 56, appeared to turn her local polling station into her catwalk as she wowed in a tight blue dress and shades outside the station. 

She penned in the caption: 'First at the poll station!! I charged in like a thunder bolt into my village hall, I cast my vote and then I bought everyone a cup of tea and a custard cream.

'Always a vote winner! Big day let's go! #elections #electionfever #politics #bigday.'

Elsewhere presenter and singer Myleene, 49, shared a snap heading to vote with her passport as she urged her followers to 'to make change for you and for your children'.

Dancing on his way to the polling station Tony, 77, excitedly waved his hands in the air and appeared in great spirits as he coined his own tune. 

The actor and author sang: 'Oh it's election day, yes it's election day, yes it's lalalalala election day, yes it's election day, crucial election day'.  

Journalist Piers, 59, also headed to cast his vote as he posed outside the polling station in a T-shirt and shorts.   

He penned in his caption: 'Vote cast! If you don't vote, you have no right to moan, bleat, whine or chunter about the way this country is run. 

'So, get down to your local polling station and VOTE.'

Meanwhile actor Charles Dance, 77, was seen heading to cast his vote early this morning. 

 

Former Made In Chelsea star Ashley James took her daughter to the polling station as she urged her followers to vote out the Conservatives in an impassioned post. 

She penned: 'SUN's OUT, TORIES OUT. ☀️It's a beautiful day to get out and vote.'

The Traitors star Charlotte Chilton headed to the polling station with her mum as she said every vote 'counts towards positive change' 

A series of opinion polls in the run-up to today have shown Labour on course for a huge landslide win. 

But the Prime Minister, who called the general election six weeks ago, has warned voters against handing Sir Keir Starmer unchecked power.

The Tory leader continued his campaigning against a Labour 'socialist supermajority' with a series of overnight social media posts right up until polls opening.

He has repeatedly warned about Sir Keir hiking taxes should he enter power and claimed Labour will raid workers, savers, homeowners, pensioners and drivers.

In his final campaign rally last night, the PM admitted he was the 'underdog' but vowed: 'This underdog will fight to the final whistle.'

Mr Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty were spotted voting early this morning at Kirby Sigston Village Hall in his Richmond and Northallerton constituency in Yorkshire.

Like all other voters, they will have had to ensure they had correct photo identification - such as a passport or driving licence - with them in order to vote.

This year is the first time in the UK that everybody wanting to vote in person at a general election will have to show ID before receiving a ballot paper.

Sir Keir voted later this morning as he attended a polling station together with his wife Victoria in their Holborn and St Pancras constituency in north London.

They arrived hand-in-hand at Willingham Close TRA Hall in Kentish Town.

A final poll by Ipsos, published today, showed Labour down five points from last week to a 37 per cent vote share.

But Sir Keir's party still maintained a strong lead of 18 points over the Tories, who were unchanged on 19 per cent.

The survey of more than 2,000 adults, carried out between Monday to yesterday evening, also had Nigel Farage's Reform UK party unchanged on 15 per cent, with the Liberal Democrats on 11 per cent and Greens on 9 per cent.

The poll found the Conservatives remaining on their lowest vote share in Ipsos records since the late 1970s, but also put Labour on their lowest vote share since 2021.
