- Strickland shocked the world by beating Adesanya by unanimous decision
- He had referenced his opponent's dog in the build-up to the right, angering him
- Strickland appeared unaware that the dog had passed away when informed
New UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland has revealed the details of his post-fight conversation with Israel Adesanya.
Strickland pulled off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history when he beat his opponent via unanimous decision on Sunday morning to be crowned the new champion against all odds.
All three judges scored the bout 49-46 in favour of the 32-year-old, who is known for his out-of-the-ring sexist comments and murderous desires.
After Strickland had his new belt put around his waist, his opponent approached him in the ring and the two engaged in a brief discussion before going their separate ways.
And following their exits, the Strickland revealed the chat was in fact about Adesanya's deceased dog.

'It was f****** strange you guys, it was f****** strange,' he began.
'I think he was mad that I made fun of his dog, I'm not even joking. Is that what it was? He was mad that I made fun of his dog. What the f*** is going on here man? Are we having this conversation?
'He truly was mad. I don't f****** know. Izzy, I'm sorry I made fun of your dog, I'm sure he's a great fella.'
After Strickland was told that he was referring to the dog that passed away, of which the former champion has a tattoo on his neck, he replied: 'Oh, is that what it is?'
Strickland had mentioned the dog, 'Millionaire', in the build-up to the fight, with Adesanya saying on the topic: 'The worst thing he did was bring up my dead homie. And I'm gonna go John Wick on this man.'
Adesanya appeared to post a video of himself touching his dog's genitals when it passed away earlier this year.
Strickland criticised Adesanya following the fight, claiming he didn't try to win the bout
The controversial American went onto question his opponent's desire in the bout.
After dropping his opponent in the first round, Strickland survived a comeback of sorts from Adesanya in the second, then took the remaining stages of the contest with a brilliant effort that saw him continually pressure his rival and land big shots.
'Feel like the guy didn't even f****g try,' he said in his post-bout press conference.
'There were moments where he was throwing punches around like, "Am I fighting a f*****g amateur?"'
