Princess Beatrice's daughter turns three: Sienna Mapelli Mozzi celebrates birthday... as her mother continues style renaissance

Recently named best-dressed of the year by Tatler, Princess Beatrice today has another reason to celebrate.

Her daughter, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, turns three.

Few photographs have been shared of the toddler and her family choose to only show the back of her head.

However, a friend of Beatrice told Tatler earlier this year: 'Sienna is absolutely gorgeous and looks exactly like Bea. She's really cheeky and has a very good personality.'

The princess was also complimented on her parenting, with the friend adding: 'Bea has such a good heart and she's such a kind person, so motherhood came very naturally to her; she's a fantastic mum'.

Beatrice's daughter weighed 6lbs 2oz when she was born at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London at 11.42pm.

Sienna is a name with Italian origins, perhaps  chosen because of the roots of her father, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Meaning 'orange red', it could also refer to the fiery hair of the Duchess of York, Sienna's grandmother.

Beatrice, who had a close relationship with Queen Elizabeth, decided to honour her grandmother with her daughter's middle name.

Sienna is the late Queen's 12th great-grandchild. Like many of her cousins, she does not have a royal title.

Only grandchildren of the monarch through the male line are automatically entitled to the styling of HRH.

King Charles could bestow a title on his great-niece if desired, but it is unlikely to be asked for.

However, the little girl is officially a 'Nobile Donna' and 'contessa' - the female version of a count - as a result of her father's noble ancestry.

Such titles are not officially recognised in Italy anymore. They can still, however, be used as a sign of respect.

Edoardo will one day inherit his family's seat, the 18th-century Villa Mapelli Mozzi palace in northern Italy.

Sienna is currently placed in tenth position in the royal line of succession, under her mother Princess Beatrice.

When the couple announced Sienna's name in October 2021, Edoardo shared a print of their daughter's feet and wrote: 'Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi.

'Our life together has just begun, and I can't wait to see all the amazing things that await us.

'Feeling so much love and gratitude for my amazing wife, baby Sienna and [her half-brother] Wolfie. These are the days I never want to forget.

'This week, a friend said to me the sweetest saying…. that with every child you grow a whole new heart.'

Later, the official royal family social media page posted the same image, with the caption reading: 'The couple have said, 'We are all doing well and Wolfie is the best big brother to Sienna.'

Edoardo has son Wolfie, eight, with his former partner Dara Huang.

Sienna was the fourth great-grandchild of the Queen to be born in 2021, following the arrival of Princess Eugenie's and Jack Brooksbank's son August in February, Zara and Mike Tindall's son Lucas in March and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's daughter Lilibet in June.

Sienna was christened on April 29, 2022, at the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace.

It was revealed by Hello in May that nutritionist Gabriela Peacock is one of the young royal's godparents - with Beatrice also being godmother to her daughter, Iris.

Princess Eugenie shared the first glimpse of her niece in a photo celebrating Earth Day.

She revealed that Sienna and her cousin August 'love going to the London Zoo' in a photo of the pair watching the penguins.

In the picture, she appeared to have a thick head of strawberry blonde hair.

Edoardo is the son of former Olympic skier Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and Nikki Shale.

He had been a friend of the York children for some time before getting engaged to Beatrice. The couple married in 2020.

Known as Edo to friends, he helped mend Beatrice's broken heart following her split from Dave Clark in 2016 after ten years together.

He was educated at Radley school in Oxfordshire before studying for a Master's in politics at Edinburgh.
