Driving on air! Pilot takes flying GO-KART for its first ever flight - whizzing across fields and twisting 180 degrees

  • Pilot is lifted off the ground and zooms through the air in go-kart in Toscana, Italy
  • The aircraft with propellers flies across fields and even turns around mid-flight
  • Tomasz Patan, from Poland, spent months designing the bizarre contraption

A pilot could not hide his excitement as he took to the skies for the first time in his home-made flying go-kart.

The clip, filmed in Toscana, Italy, shows the bizarre contraption fitted with propellers taking its first ever flight as it whizzes across fields.

GoPro footage captured the pilot speeding effortlessly through the air - and even twisting in a 180 degree turn mid-flight.

Tomasz Patan, from Poland, built the incredible vessel which he spent months designing and testing.

It was the first successful flight of the ingenious vehicle - known as the Jetson Speeder.

Mr Patan said: 'It turned out to be a fantastic experience that everyone should be able to try.

'Being able to move through the air so effortlessly without vibrations or noise - it just felt so great.

'After months of careful planning, designing, programming and building, we had this beautifully flying electric machine which was the first step in leading to something even greater: Bringing the personal electric flight to everyone.'

The aircraft required hundreds of adjustments, changes, and test flights before it finally completed a perfect journey.

And now a prototype is planned for late this year, with commercial production hopefully starting at the end of 2019.

Mr Patan added: 'We have successfully built our flying proof of concept.

'Since then we have learned a lot, made hundreds of adjustments and changes, conducted many flight tests, proved its airworthiness and safety features.

'We have achieved our set parameters and collected all necessary data.

'These steps were essential to start a development of a pre-production prototype.'
