Don Lemon mocks Melania Trump for questioning investigation into Thomas Crooks assassination attempt

Don Lemon has been slammed for mocking Melania Trump's emotional video about the attempted assassination of her husband.

The ousted CNN anchor, 58, shared and then deleted a video to TikTok of himself shaking his head and rolling his eyes at the former first lady's video statement on the shooting.

In Melania's video, she insisted there is 'more to the story' of Thomas Crooks' attempt on Donald's life on July 13, saying 'we need to uncover the truth.'

Lemon didn't say anything in his sneering response, but let his disagreement with Melania's remarks clear as he concluded his clip by putting his head in his hands.

A representative for Don Lemon did not immediately respond to a request for comment over his video, or why he decided to delete it.

Lemon's clip drew a wave of backlash from conservatives, at a time when many Republicans have raised concerns over the FBI investigation and blatant security lapses at Trump's fateful rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

'What do you think Don Lemon is more upset about? The lack of answers around July 13? Or that Trump is still alive?' one outraged viewer said.

'Reprehensible of him,' added another commenter.

A third concluded: 'Mocking a woman talking about her husband nearly being killed shows everything we need to know about who you are and what is in your soul.

'You can delete it, but the internet is forever.'

In her video shared earlier this month, Melania raised eyebrows as she implied there was a conspiracy behind the assassination attempt on her husband.

'The attempt to end my husband's life was a horrible, distressing experience,' she began in the brief video, which lasted 10 seconds and was posted to her social media accounts.

'Now the silence around it feels heavy. I can't help but wonder why didn't law enforcement officials arrest shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story. And we need to uncover the truth,' she added.

In the video, the 54-year-old is dressed in black and speaking in front of a black screen with ominous music playing in the background.

The video ends with a shot promoting her forthcoming memoir 'Melania', which will be released in October.

It's unclear what the assassination attempt has to do with Melania Trump's book, which is being published October 1st. She announced her memoir about two weeks after the assassination attempt and it's unclear if she'll address it in the book.

While Lemon appeared less than impressed with scrutiny around the assassination attempt, many conservatives have cited a number of concerns and inconsistencies with the investigation in the two months since.

Despite evidence that Crooks was on the radar of law enforcement at the rally up to an hour before he opened fire, it remains unexplained how he was able to climb onto the roof of a building with the only direct line of sight to Trump.

There are also questions about what role the Secret Service played versus local law enforcement and if the two entities were in proper communication that day.

The gunman shot at Trump from about 150 yards away, on top of a roof that was near the outdoor rally but outside the venue, meaning he didn't go through the normal screening process that rally attendees did.

It's unclear why the Secret Service didn't secure that area and why it took officers so long to respond to the shooting. Trump was grazed by a bullet, causing his ear to bleed.

The shocking security lapses led to the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, before further outrage was sounded as it was revealed that the FBI secretly approved Crooks' body to be cremated just 10 days after the shooting
