Footage of the incident shows Sharkey working on the lawn outside before he was struck by lighting.

The clip cuts to him rolling on the ground in extreme pain with concerned neighbors rushing to help him.

A woman is heard screaming: 'Call 911, I'm coming!'

'I was weed-trimming and the next thing you know I was on the ground,' Sharkey said.

'I was trying to finish up. I was about to head back to my truck, and suddenly, I woke up face down in a puddle,' he told WESH

'There was no warning. There was no "get out of the way." It was just instantaneous.'

Neighbor Angelina Tolbert said: 'I saw him laying on the ground and I yelled to my son "Oh my God, Daniel has been hit by lightning!"'

Doctors said the nearby tree saved the teenager's life as it absorbed most of the shock and he could have died if the bolt struck just a few inches over.

Tolbert described Sharkey's recovery as miraculous. 'He’s definitely got some angels with him for sure,' she said.

'I’m just happy that if karma is a thing, it ended up on my side this time,' he said.

The teenager has been described as someone who loves to help and he regularly seen volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank.

But he said he is not finished earning cash this summer with his yard work.

'I mean, I’ve got 20 people that expect their grass cut, and if not there, I’m sure I’ll have a lot of annoyed customers,' Sharkey added.
