Lee Anderson has slammed a 'vile hoax' after a man claiming to be his son accused the Tory MP of being a violent drunk during an LBC call-in.
The sick prank triggered calls from Mr Anderson for a police investigation into the incident, which the Conservative deputy chairman said was a 'slur on my family'.
The alleged hoax took place during Rachel Johnson's popular phone-in show on Sunday evening, when a distressed-sounding man who called himself 'Charlie Anderson' from Ashfield, Mr Anderson's constituency, claimed to be the MP's son.
Speaking about who he would back in the next election, the suspected prankster said he'd be voting Labour for the first time because his 'dad screamed at me the other night', before going on to claim the MP 'grabbed me'.
The man made further wild accusations, claiming the MP had 'tried to headbutt me' and once considered joining a 'UKIP or BNP party'. Asked how old he was, he said '23' before changing it to 24. Mr Anderson's son, Charlie, is aged 33.

Lee Anderson has lashed out after a prank caller phoned LBC and claimed to be his son, before accusing the Tory MP of being a violent drunk
The prank caller was alleging to be Charlie Anderson - making an outlandish series of allegations against the Tory MP
Mr Anderson issued a furious response to the 'vile hoax' on Twitter/X last night saying it was a 'slur on my family'
The call was promptly cut off by Ms Johnson, who said it sounded like a 'very personal issue' and that she was 'not sure we should continue that'. But a furious Mr Anderson has since slammed the prank and demanded both police and LBC bosses look into it.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Mr Anderson raged: 'To be clear, this is a vile hoax and a slur on my family.
'For clarity I do have a son called Charlie but he is 33 not 23 as the male says in this clip. The voice is a completely different accent to my son's.
'The person who has made this hoax call is sick. I shall be reporting this to the police and so should @LBC.'
Mr Anderson’s other son, Harry, also denounced the hoax and said the claims made were 'not true' before adding: 'That person is not my brother'.
The apparent prank sparked outraged from across the political divide, with a Scottish Labour official describing it as 'sick', while another said: 'This is absolutely vile. Regardless of your views on politics or certain politicians, this is far over the line and Lee does right reporting it to the police.'

Outraged campaigners from across the political divide came to Mr Anderson's defence after the alleged prank call - with Labour activists branding it 'vile', 'sick' and 'morally repugnant'
A third Labour official branded the hoax 'morally repugnant', adding: 'Politician’s family members are never fair game. And certainly not to be imitated on a radio show like this. The culprit should be punished.'
Laura McConnell said voters are free to criticise Mr Anderson and his policies, 'but personally smearing him or his children in this way - impersonating his child on a radio phone-in - is beyond the pale'.
MailOnline has approached LBC for comment.
