Hard-working employee threatened to quit after being told the reason why he was given all the nightshifts: 'Pathetic'

An employee was gobsmacked after being told by his boss that he's been given all the nightshifts because he 'complains the least' out of the team.

British career expert Ben Askins read out an anonymous submission which detailed the text messages exchanged between the man and his manager.

The employee texted the manager asking about the roster and why they'd been put on night shift for the entire week.

'Hi, just a quick question, I seemed to have been put on the late shift for every single night this week?' the worker asked.

The manager replied: 'Yeah sorry about that, I know no one wants to do that shift and I knew you would complain the least if I gave them to you.'

Feeling shocked, the employee said: 'That doesn't make sense? Can't we just split the last shifts between the three of us like usual?'

But the boss responded: 'Last time I put Jamie on the late shift he just complained so much. Honestly I can't be bothered to deal with that.'

'So I'm being punished because I don't complain as much?' the employee asked.

The manager said: 'It is a compliment mate! You are way less low maintenance which is a good thing.'

'This is honestly bulls***. You realise you are basically incentivising me to be more unhelpful?' the employee responded.

But the manager said: 'That is a very disappointing way to take what I just said.'

And the employee hit back: 'You should see it from my side. If you make me do this, I will quit.'

Finally the boss said: 'Fine I will change it.'

Ben was stunned by the admission and called the boss 'pathetic' for how he dealt with the situation.

'What do you think your job is if it's not to deal with that as the manager?' Ben said.

'What a waste of time. Genuinely what is he playing at?'

'The Good employees ALWAYS get punished,' one wrote.

'I'd become the worst complainer they had ever seen,' another said.

'Time to start complaining incessantly,' a third wrote.

Someone else said: 'I'd still start looking for another position.'

But another pointed out that 'at least the boss is honest'.
