Annoyingly handsome superstar actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt pair up in the amusing new trailer for action-comedy movie Wolfs. Sony Pictures Entertainment dropped it Wednesday on YouTube the day after Apple TV+ released a 30-second teaser trailer.
The two stars play underworld “fixers” who accidentally come together over a job that turns out to be more than the simple disposal of a body it first appears. The movie comes out in theaters September 20 and should stream on Apple TV+ after that.
UPDATE: After seeing its larger theatrical run busted down to one week in limited venues, madcap comedy caper film Wolfs streams on Apple TV+ Friday. Reviews so far are mixed, mainly saying superstars Clooney and Pitt carry the somewhat-problematic film, with various opinions on how well they fare. At the very least, it should be a good popcorn flick for this weekend. And Apple Original Film already plans a sequel with writer, director and producer Jon Watts.
Nutty Wolfs trailer brings Clooney and Pitt together in action-comedy film
Brad Pitt and George Clooney last appeared onscreen together in 2008’s Burn After Reading and, before that, in the Ocean’s Eleven trilogy. In Wolfs, they’re together again, playing a pair of mob cleaners unknowingly called to the same job. Apple’s 30-second teaser on Tuesday showed the pair on a silent, tense car ride, clearly annoyed with each other.
With the longer teased dropped Wednesday, the movie’s story starts to come into focus. A woman (played by Amy Ryan, who also appears in Sugar on Apple TV+) needs a body removed. Clooney shows up first, declaring “no one can do what I do.” Then Pitt appears, dressed much the same way, all in black, donning the same blue rubber gloves, ready to do what Clooney does.
As the Wolfs trailer goes on, the two spar verbally and insist they only work alone. But circumstances spiral out of control, forcing prickly cooperation.
First, the body turns out to be alive. And copious amounts of illicit drugs are found. Something’s not right, and soon the pair of reluctant colleagues are on the run, along with the not-so-dead guy (dressed only in tighty-whities). Machine-gun-toting thugs — dressed all in white, for some reason — give chase.
Here’s the movie description:
Global superstars George Clooney and Brad Pitt team up for the action comedy Wolfs. Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high profile crime. But when a second fixer (Pitt) shows up and the two “lone wolves” are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected.
