Apple confirmed at its Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month that its next major update to Mac OS X, dubbed Mountain Lion, would be released to the public sometime during July. The Cupertino company is yet to make that release date more specific, but according to one report, we can expect Mountain Lion to pop up in the Mac App Store on July 19.
T-Gaap.com reports that a “source in the Bay Area” has confirmed OS X Mountain Lion will make its public debut on July 19 — 364 days after OS X Lion made its Mac App Store debut.
Apple seeded the fourth Mountain Lion beta preview to registered developers earlier this week, and if the July 19 release date is correct, it could be the last preview we see before the software goes public.
However, we must note that T-Gaap isn’t a site that we know all that well, and so it doesn’t have any proven track record for reliable reports. We’d hate to dismiss the report completely, but please take it with a pinch of salt for now until we have something a little more concrete. July 19 certainly sounds like a feasible date, though.
