What’s the vibe here?
Lake Norman, just north of Uptown, feels a million nautical miles away from Charlotte's hustle and bustle. This is the largest man-made lake in the Carolinas, which means there's plenty of space for boating, fishing, watersports, and chilling out.

Any standout features or must-dos?
Whether it's a pontoon boat or paddle board, kayak or wakeboard, Lake Norman is all about being on the water—not just looking at it from the shoreline.

Was it easy to get around?
The Wake app is well worth the $2.99 for the GPS component alone; it also highlights restaurants and marinas around the lake.

Any other tips for us?
You could go all out and rent a boat, but if your budget is tighter, a kayak rental is the way to go.
