Chazz Palminteri And Epic To Release A Bronx Tale Cigar Line
“Now, yous can’t leave.” Any casual fan of mobster movies will identify that line in a second, but in case yous can’t, it’s from the 1993 film A Bronx Tale, and now, that popular movie about wise guys and working men is getting its own cigar line.
Actor Chazz Palminteri, who both wrote the screenplay and starred in A Bronx Tale as Mafia boss Sonny, will be appearing at this year’s PCA trade show in Las Vegas to present the new brand of the same name. Made in the Dominican Republic at the Tabacalera Von Eicken factory, the cigar is a collaboration between Paul DiSilvio of the Bronx-based La Casa Grande Tobacco Co. and Dean Parsons of Epic Cigars and Zander-Greg Imports.
Chazz Palminteri’s A Bronx Tale will come in a single size, a box-pressed toro measuring 6 inches by 54 ring gauge called Calogero, in honor of Palminteri’s grandfather. (Those who have seen the movie may remember this was also the name of the main character.)
It consists of a Cuban-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador with a Dominican binder and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. According to Zander-Greg, the exclusive distributor of the brand, these cigars are medium-to-full in strength.
Shipping in boxes of 10, Calogero has a suggested retail price of $20 each. This will be a regular-production brand, but this year's initial release is limited to 2,500 boxes.
The cigar is set to premiere at a private party on June 28 at the La Casa Grande cigar shop with Palminteri in attendance.
Palminteri will also be present at the Zander-Greg booth at the PCA trade show in Las Vegas next month. Those who stop by the booth to pre-order the cigar will have the opportunity to meet Palminteri, along with receiving a signed poster. The cigars are expected to ship to retailers shortly after the trade show.
The cigar is a long-awaited project for Palminteri, the grandson of immigrants, and he has dedicated A Bronx Tale to his grandfather and those who came to the United States in the pursuit of a better life.
