Rosie’s Gaming Emporium in Richmond, Virginia, Makes Impactful $75,000 Donation to Miles Jones Elementary School
RICHMOND, VA., (January 20, 2024) – Rosie’s Gaming Emporium (Rosie’s) in Richmond kicked off the new year with an impactful $75,000 donation to Miles Jones Elementary School (MJE), made possible through the Rosie’s Gives Back initiative. This most recent donation brings the team at Rosie’s in Richmond one step closer to their commitment of donating $500,000 in their first five years of active operations to MJE.
Rosie’s Gives Back is an impactful and life changing program established in 2019 that aims to meaningfully improve the quality of life in the communities where Rosie’s team members live and work. Following Churchill Downs Incorporated’s (CDI) acquisition of Colonial Downs Racetrack (Colonial Downs) and Rosie’s properties in 2022, the Rosie’s Gives Back program was a perfect extension of CDI’s corporate social responsibility mission. CDI prioritizes giving to those entities that help enrich a community’s quality of life and contribute to the overall unique identity of the region, focusing their charitable impact on the equine industry, reducing inequalities and health and human services.
CDI has had significant impact on the many communities in which they operate and through corporate giving, over $5 million in charitable grants and in-kind donations is contributed annually to over 800 organizations nationwide. In Virginia, direct monetary and in-kind donations of more than $2.6 Million has been given back to charitable organizations and over 2,500 service hours have been logged by Colonial Downs and Rosie’s team members in communities across the state.
“We continue to be immensely proud of our Rosie’s Gives Back program and it’s dedication to making a positive impact in the communities in which we operate.” shared Nate Mize, Sr. Director of Marketing for Colonial Downs and Rosie’s Gaming Emporiums. “It has been our pleasure supporting Principal Shaw and the entire Miles J. Elementary team, as together they continue to drive meaningful change and foster a better future for Richmond.”
