Adan Canto was a Mexican-American actor, best known for his roles on television series including “The Cleaning Lady” and “Designated Survivor,” as well as for playing the superhero Sunspot in the film “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. Canto played Colombian politician Rodrigo Lara Bonilla on Narcos. He also starred in Halle Berry’s directorial debut, “Bruised,” as well as “Agent Game.” He also directed his first short film in 2014 and a second one in 2020, a provocative western starring Theo Rossi.
Born on December 5, 1981, in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, to parents Jose-Luis Narvaez and Marlyn Canto-Narvaez, Canto grew up riding horses at his grandfather’s ranch in Acuña where his father was a charro. He began performing on stage as a singer at the age of seven. His career in entertainment officially began when he was 16 and decided to leave home to pursue a career as a musician in Mexico City, where he would sing at bars and produce songs for TV.
Canto met his future wife Stephanie Lindquist in Brooklyn, NY in 2012. They married in June 2017 and lived in the Hollywood Hills. They had a son (Roman Alder) in 2020 and a daughter (Eve Josephine) in 2022. Canto died of appendix cancer on 8 January 2024 at the age of 42
