Hurricanes' Jordan Martinook: Undergoing evaluation
Martinook was seen getting X-rays for an undisclosed injury following Friday's game versus the Canucks, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Martinook was held off the scoresheet Friday after posting a three-assist performance in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs. The 32-year-old's status will likely be updated following the analysis of his imaging work. Martinook should be considered questionable to play Sunday against the Ducks.

Tokarski is slated to guard the home goal against Vancouver on Friday, per Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer.
Tokarski has a 3-1-0 record, 2.39 GAA and .894 save percentage in four outings in 2024-25. He stopped 16 of 19 shots en route to a 4-3 overtime victory over Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Canucks are in a three-way tie for 16th in goals per game with 3.00.

Hurricanes' Juha Jaaska: Earns first NHL point
Jaaska notched an assist in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
The helper was Jaaska's first point in four NHL appearances. The 26-year-old forward is filling a fourth-line role while Tyson Jost (lower body) and William Carrier (lower body) are sidelined. Jaaska has shown a scoring touch with 16 points over 26 AHL appearances, but his ice time is likely to be too limited with the Hurricanes to make him much of a factor in fantasy.

Hurricanes' Ty Smith: Generates helper Thursday
Smith logged an assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Smith picked up his first point over five outings in January when he assisted on an Eric Robinson tally. For the season, Smith has two points, 14 shots on net, three blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over seven NHL appearances. He continues to fill in on the third pairing while seeing power-play time in the absence of Shayne Gostisbehere (upper body), but Smith's limited production has yet to really move the needle in fantasy.

Hurricanes' Jackson Blake: Nets game-winner Thursday
Blake scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Blake tallied at 4:58 of the second period, and his goal put the Hurricanes ahead for good. This was his fifth game-winner among nine goals over 42 appearances. The 21-year-old rookie has added four assists, 60 shots on net, 20 PIM and a plus-2 rating. Blake has mainly played on the fourth line, with an average of 11:45 of ice time this season, though he's played 12:35 per game since the holiday break.

Hurricanes' Eric Robinson: Bends twine in win
Robinson scored a goal on five shots in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Robinson had gone four games without a point prior to Thursday. The winger was moderately productive in December with five points over 13 contests. The 29-year-old has bounced around the Hurricanes' lineup, though he's been in a middle-six role in the last couple of games. Robinson has reached the 10-goal mark for the third time in his career, and he's at 21 points, 51 shots on net, 57 hits and a plus-7 rating over 42 appearances this season.

Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Pots empty-netter
Jarvis scored an empty-net goal on two shots in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Jarvis continues to hum along on offense with four goals and eight assists over his last 11 contests. The 22-year-old winger put the bow on Thursday's win for the Hurricanes. Jarvis is up to 12 goals, 30 points, 92 shots on net, 54 hits, 26 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 35 appearances. He remains on pace to reach the 60-point mark for the second year in a row, but he may fall short of matching his 33-goal, 67-point effort from the 2023-24 regular season.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Big saves preserve win
Kochetkov made 30 saves in a 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs on Thursday.
Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Nicholas Robertson beat him, but he then made some huge saves in the third to preserve the lead and get the win. Kochetkov has won just twice in his last six starts (2-3-1), and his overall stats (16-9-1, 2.52, .902) continue to fuel rumors the Canes will go shopping for net insurance before the deadline. If so, Kochetchov's value could take a hit.

Hurricanes' Jordan Martinook: Trio of apples in win
Martinook picked up three apples in a 6-3 win over Toronto on Thursday.
He and Jordan Staal teamed up and delivered shutdown defense on the Leaf's top line and delicious offense, too. Staal had three goals, and the duo pushed Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner to minus-6 ratings each. Martinook snapped a seven-game point drought with the effort.

Hurricanes' Jordan Staal: Fistful of cookies in win
Staal delivered a hat trick in a 6-3 win over Toronto on Thursday.
It was the fourth hat trick of his 19-year NHL career, and he got those cookies while lining up against Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner on the Leafs' top line. Staal is on a three-game, six-point scoring streak that includes four goals. He's four points from 700 (696) in his career and five games from 1,300. Fantasy players may want to strike while the iron is hot on Staal, as a regression seems likely.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Set to face Toronto
Kochetkov is expected to start in Thursday's home tilt against Toronto, according to Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal.
Kochetkov has a 15-9-1 record, 2.50 GAA and .902 save percentage in 26 outings in 2024-25. He's struggled recently, allowing 14 goals on 136 shots (.897 save percentage) while earning just one win across his past five starts. The Maple Leafs rank 12th in goals per game with 3.14.

Hurricanes' William Carrier: Still no update available
Carrier's (lower body) status remains up in the air, indicating he'll be absent for Thursday's game versus the Maple Leafs, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Given that head coach Rod Brind'Amour doesn't know Carrier's timeline yet, it's safe to assume the winger will also be out Friday versus the Canucks. The 30-year-old was hurt Saturday in a 4-0 loss to the Wild and will likely continue to be under evaluation in the coming days.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Resumes skating
Andersen skated Wednesday for the first time since undergoing knee surgery Nov. 22, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Andersen isn't projected to return until late February, but this is an important step in his recovery. He has a 3-1-0 record, 1.49 GAA and .941 save percentage in four appearances in 2024-25. When healthy, Andersen is likely to reclaim the No. 1 gig, and Pyotr Kochetkov would shift to being the understudy.

Hurricanes' Brent Burns: Puts up helper in loss
Burns notched an assist, two shots on goal, three blocked shots and two PIM in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Lightning.
Burns has five points over his last seven outings. He had a shot attempt redirected in by Jordan Staal midway through the third period of Tuesday's game, but the Lightning won with a Brayden Point goal in the final minute. Burns is at four goals, 10 helpers, 89 shots on net, 58 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating through 41 appearances in a top-four role.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Heartbreaking loss
Kotchetkov made 31 saves in a 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
This was a heartbreaker -- Brayden Point drove a stake through the Canes' heart with the game-winner with 52 seconds left in the third. Kochetkov has just one win since the holiday break (1-3-1), and there are plenty of murmurs around the league that the Canes will go shopping for a netminding upgrade/insurance. Depending on that outcome, Kochetkov's yo-yo value of late could end up flattening. Insulate your team if you can.

Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: First 5-on-5 goal since October
Svechnikov scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Lightning.
It was a backhand flutterer from the top of the circles that Andrei Vasilevskiy whiffed on. Svechnikov has scuffled a bit this season -- this was his first goal in his last 10 games (three assists), and his first 5-on-5 goal since October. Gulp. Last season, Svechnikov delivered 19 goals and 52 points (144 shots) in 59 appearances. This year, he's on pace for 58 in 82 games. He's better than this, so something will give soon enough... we think.
